Having a difficult time finding a PCM for my 1997 Corvette
I recently purchased a 97 Corvette from a friend and the PCM was removed. No one knows where the original PCM is. Is there an replacement for the original. Everywhere I look, the part is discontinued. It is hard to believe that this part cannot be found with ease. Any one knows what I can do to find a replacement?

Hello Smoken1,
Thanks for replying. I did not contact him directly, but I did check the website and searched. There was not a PCM listed for a 97. I did not realized that it was this hard to find. I can't believe that GM would not offer a solution for troubled PCMs for that year. I did find one online at Dino's Corvette Salvage. I'm just waiting for a confirm to see if he has it in stock. There were various sites that stated they had one and then when I went to order it, it was either discontinued or not in stock. Man this is so frustrating.

There is an online database that ties nearly every wrecking yard in the states together so you can see a lot of inventory. search online used car parts dot com.
Supposedly there is a 97 computer at Holmes auto wrecking in Wisconsin and there is possibly another one or a reman one at Cleveland power and performance.
Good luck on your quest.

Good luck finding one. You are right - they can be difficult to locate.

If you know the part number of the one you want, don't forget you can swap in one from a Firebird or a Camaro too. I put one from a Firebird into my 98 when I needed a replacement.

I looked everywhere over several days for a customer that had a 97 and needed one. The thing is, there’s also a number on the sticker stuck to the PCM that makes a big difference.
I found one from a guy that had a single one for sale and as a favor he charged “only” $1250 which I had the customer deal with direct. I didn’t want to be in the middle of the deal if something was wrong with it.
Good luck, especially not knowing the series number that came with the original.

Just out of curiosity how much did you pay? I'm curious because I have 97 C5 A/T in case in the future if I ever need one I have idea how much it's going for.

I've paid $616.00 for the PCM and got quoted as much as $999.00, but that was for plug & play. I guess they factor in the supply and demand rule.
