Default Who Makes a Usable Rear Led Bulb That Fits?

I'm looking to replace the rear turn signal /brake light bulbs with leds. I purchased some quality led bulbs and the bases wont fit the socket correctly. I'm simply looking to replace the trade number 1157 bulb with an led.

Where did you get yours and do they work correctly?

I replaced my reverse light bulbs first. Wow what a difference? I am so impressed that I want to do all of the exterior lights.

I'm going to take a look at those bulbs that zwede posted.

You'll need to upgrade the flasher if you do more than the rears. I used a Tridon electronic flasher. Also, if you do the front running light/turn signals the front side markers have to be re-wired. I changed one wire on them so they flash with the front turn signal, but they won't light up when the running lights are on anymore.

That is the brand that I purchased. I can't push and turn the bulb like it should. I broke one bulb already trying to make it work. The 1156 replacements worked perfectly.

Do you have a part number for the flasher?

I ordered the ones from Super Bright LEDS & they did not fit correctly. Had to bend the tabs up in the sockets to get them to work but still had problems.

https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...t-car/806/749/ They have an 1156 version also. Mine installed no problem at all.

I have these in the '61 and '72 and they are fast and bright.

Pay attention to the color vs lens color, you want red bulbs for red lens, etc.

Doug

That is a different 1157 type bulb then what I purchased. The base of the one that I purchased is different than the one pictured. I'll try to post a picture of the bulb that does not work.

Mine is different from the one you posted that does not work. I got the stock cover version, perfect fit. You can get the stock type cover and base that fits exactly, in both 1156 and 1157 versions. This one.....https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...1428&year=1981

So rear requires no flasher upgrade? Not even for hazard lights?

That has yet to be determined. I was in the process of checking that when I ran into the bulb problem.

zwede posted a part number for a flasher earlier in this thread.
