Default Please help with this noise

I have a 2007 Corvette with 45k miles. There is a squeaking noise under the hood. It's been hit and miss but I've heard it for a couple of days now so I really need to identify it. I do have some technical skills( do my own maintenance and auto repair) so hopefully it's something I can fix.

I've attached a youtube link so you can hear.

Thanks for your help!

I was thinking that but I don't see any wobble at all. I wanted to make sure before I go down that road.

Thanks for the input.

Maybe a belt tensioner

If it is the tensioner, should I be able to remove the belt and create the noise turning it by hand? I know I can't turn the balancer by hand and recreate it.

While it’s running spray some wd40 on the center bearing area. See if it changes.

Got home and did a better inspection with a brighter light. The squeaking had stopped when I pulled in the garage but it has been squeaking all day. I thought I didn't have the harmonic wobble but it appears I was wrong. See attached video, I'm pretty sure it's the harmonic.

Did you happen to see the first video? What do you think that noise is?

Did the noise start after you washed the engine by chance? We've only had our 2007 vert for a week, but after washing the engine bay real good I noticed a squeak from the engine that seemed to increase with acceleration.

I have not washed the engine bay. It's been raining here a lot but no deep water driving either.

I thought about the bearing but the chirp seems further down..

I'm thinking it might be belt related and I'm just reading too much into it.

You & everyone else are just guessing. Get yourself a mechanics stethoscope (they're cheap at any auto parts store) or a 2-ft section of garden hose & listen carefully at each rotating component. You will quickly know where the noise is coming from.

Better video would help, but banking either a dry bearing in one of the two tensioner pulley's, the idler pulley, or the the A/C compressor clutch bearing going south instead.

Turn the A/C so the compressor clutch engages (instead of free wheeling instead), and if the noise goes away, it's the A/C compressor clutch will need to be replaced.

that's funny because my car never did this noise... but I just changed my radiator and some coolant leaked out onto the belts and pulleys because a hose wasn't fully clamped (the one from the upper water pump to top of radiator on thr drivers side). Well while after driving the car I noticed my car was doing the same exact noise especially when I use gas. Idk if it's because I got the belts and pulleys a little wet or not, but in a few days or tomorrow if the noise stops I'll let you all know

Now that you said belt,I had a noise but most of the time it was only on start up and shut down on my 08...Long story short i removed the Mitsubishi belt and put on a Gatorback belt and that was about 5 years ago and NO noises since......That was my first choice of the process of eliminations..

Just an update to the noise. First off, I will get a mechanics stethoscope so I can do some detailed listening.

An old shade tree mechanic told me to get a bar of soap and rub it on the underside of the belt.I did that Friday night and the noise stopped immediately. I didn't drive much over the weekend so today will be the real test. I don't know if its's belt related or if that was just a quick way to silence the noise.

I will post a follow up to let ya'll know if the noise comes back or what's going on. Thanks for all the input and help on this.

If the bar of soap stopped the belt from making that noise immediately that could be because the belt is bad. I would start by buying a new belt. If it starts making the noise again, get a tube of hose and listen where the noise is coming from... it could be a pulley or bearing. If the noise comes from the crankshaft pulley (harmonic balancer) then that would be a heck of a replacement
