WTB: 64 emblems

64 emblems
Hello. I am restoring my extremely original 64 FI roadster with KO wheels which has only 46k miles. I am debating as to whether to try to restore and use my original emblems versus finding true, honest to God, NOS emblems. I need all exterior emblems including the FI emblems. Must be show quality. Anyone out there have these NOS emblems? Thanks.

Undrstood. No problem. BTW, I raced soap box derby in Charlotte, NC in 1954, then sponsored by Chevrolet & got to ride in an original C1 from the finish line back to the starting line. Big thrill. Then in Nov 57 in USN Boot Camp San Diego, CA picked up brochure for 1958 Corvette from dealership. On 4/4/64 bought new 250 hp HT C2 Roadster from FH Dailey Chev in Oakland, Ca $4,214 including tax & license out the door.

Beautiful car! Mine is vin 1971 and has original KO wheels as well. Thus is much earlier for KO wheels than the judging manual says is documented but I know these are original. My father bought the car in about 1974 from the third owner and they were on it then. It had an old, yellowed , curled up jacking and tire changing instruction sticker on the storage compartment lid.
My car is triple black and is all original including the original paint. Problem is when the third owner had the car, it was in a garage with other Corvettes one of which shorted out and burned. The heat from the fire and the chemicals the firefighters used ruined the paint on the 64. The paint was unsalvageable. So I recently had it repainted as part of a total restoration.
I will try to remember to send you photos when it is finished.

Thanks for your reply. Must admit mine didn’t come with the KOs. A guy in the club had a 65 or 66 with those wheels & had a fit to put American mags on his & sold me the 5 wherls, 4 adapters & the lead hammer. I painted 2 Corvettes to practice so I could paint mine. A 65 HT Roadster in 1968 and a 68 T-topped 427 coupe in 1978 but never did paint mine. No doubt it’s worth more as an original survivor in the condition you saw.

Can you send a photo of the KO wheel hammer? Not sure if mine is original.
Yes, I wish I could have kept my original paint. It hurt my soul to have to paint it but there was no choice. The paint was too bad to leave even as a "survivor".

Sorry, The lead hammer is not readily available for me to photograph. It's very simple, a piece of pipe (about 1/2" npt std) about 10" long with a 1" tee at the end and a lead cylinder retained inside it, extending beyond so the lead impacts the KO wing, enabling the soft metal to be reshaped conforming to a broader area for maximum effect, rather than damaging the surface it comes in contact with by a more concentrated localized area hit, as would be with a steel hammer.
I'll see if my son might know if it is stored in the jack storage area of the car, which is where it has always been kept. The car is in CA. I'm in Texas.
In scrolling through Corvette Forum C2 parts postings I've seen some more sophisticated tools for this purpose, not realizing before that they existed.

Thanks. That sounds like my hammer. I just have never been entirely clear what was correct. There are several variations out there claiming to be correct.

Nice looking car, Dudley! I can't decide which I like more, the looks of a hardtop on the car, or the sound of the exhaust with nothing over my head!
