Default Who fixes 98 C5 clusters

Where can I get my cluster rebuilt? Mech pulled it out of the dash board and the two companies he sent it to sent it back. Any help with some folks that work on electronics/98 clusters would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yeah, it seems parts are not being made so the quest continues. I saw some clusters on ebay but who knows if they have any issues, and then I would have to pay $175 to have the mileage programmed correctly. Word I am hearing is the cluster going bad is pretty common and can prevent the DIC from working as well as drain the battery.

Sucks that it is so hard to get parts repaired. Hope someone has a source for fixing the cluster short of going through a dealer.

I'm not sure what exactly the Op wants to fix. I replace the cluster in my C5, a 98, with a new one because I was going to install a heads up display. I just found one with similar mileage and installed it. I don't think after a car is 10 years old that there's any laws on the books anymore about the odometer reading so it really doesn't matter. Mine was within like 2500 miles on a hundred thousand mile car anyway so who really cares. Certainly I didn't. But depending upon what needs done, you can just buy a cluster for 75 or a hundred bucks on eBay and go replace all the parts you want. The mileage is stored in there and as long as you don't replace the main board it's no big deal. The mileage will be correct. If you have to change that bored, write up a mileage statement and call it a day if that makes you feel better.

but if you have a spare cluster, most of the stuff can be swapped over and it will affect nothing on your car.

I don't know if they can help you, but give Hamp's Speedometer Repair a call in Alpharetta, GA. 770-777-1919

that's some good advice but sadly I committed to a rebuild all in an effort to make the car more desired when I put it up for sale in a couple weeks. I only have about 80K on it and yes I should have just said the hell with it but I want it to work right for the next owner.

Try a company called Taber Corvette Parts in Chandler, Indiana---1-877-349-2838.
Or try Just Corvettes in St. Charles, Missouri---1-800-886-8388

Yet another option is Ft. Myers Speedometer (Alva, Florida, near Ft. Myers)---(239) 334-8812.
