Painted alternator

Did you disassemble the alternator to paint it? If not, how did you keep paint out of the internals?

I used a sponge type brush that has a flat edge. I made sure not to put too much paint on the brush. I couldn’t find a cover that wasn’t stainless or chrome.

Since my C7 is my daily driver, I have purposely left the engine bay as stock looking as possible - CA does inspections during emissions testing and I want to bring as little attention to changes as possible to avoid being dinged. However, on my C5, I have done fairly extensive upgrades to improve its looks.
I powder coated several pieces for my project since I had them out. I am cleaning up the engine bay as I re-assemble to eliminate clutter. I am painting, replacing or polishing as I go.
Still reassembling

Patches -- those black powder coated pieces look really good -- especially the alternator!
