Default Tech 2 question and codes

My Cluster went out and waiting to find a new one.

Will a tech 2 read all the codes the dash does (not just emissions) and reset the oil life? I am the end of oil life and need a way to reset it.

You can reset the oil life by turning the key to the on position (not starting) and pressing the accelerator either 3 times or 4 times, then shut off. It'll show a message that oil life was reset on the DIC. But yes, the Tech2 will do it also.

YES, it works on the C5s. It doesn't work on my Toyota Truck.

Bravo29,

I'm in Rockford and probably have a instrument cluster, if that's what you're looking for. Give me a call or text 815 979-2352.

Nothing lights up, no gauges, no DIC messages, no speedo, no tach. NADA, Zippo, Ziltch.

My app on my phone to a wifi plugged in gives me all the info I need that the dash is supposed to do for now.

bravo29,
I'm curious about the app you make reference to. How does it work? Is it like (for lack of a better word) a scanner?
Thanks,
Rock

I have been using an app called torque. You will need a Bluetooth dongle that plugs into your obd2 port (around 20 bucks give or take). There is a free version of the app as well as a paid version. It will read/delete codes etc. and give a ton of other info. Check it out.

I use Dash command with the all the GM modules. It's sold on google play and Apple for $9.99 plus $5 per module. What sucks the company doesn't support the the phone apps anymore even though its still being sold. So no updates to bugs an such.

I had it for about 3-4 years now.
