Life of a black Z06 owner
I'll apologize in advance, this is only my second post if you count the intro, so I'm not sure if this question has been asked a million and one times already. I briefly searched the forum and didn't see much. If so just call me names and tell me how much of a noob I am.
Anyways, I've told myself I wouldn't buy a black z06, even if it was a great deal. Not because I don't like them, I absolutely love black cars, but I know they come with some work. Well, that really good deal came up and the car is black. 2002 Z06 with around 45k miles and they're asking $18.9. Single owner and complete with service records and full Carfax.
So now I'm wondering how you black c5 owners are feeling about your cars color and if you have any tips. I'm familiar with the basics such as the two bucket method and soap guns. Just looking to see if there's any other advice you may have. Also as a side note, does/has anyone tried the waterless wash products and what were the results?
Thank you and like I said, if this is something that's been heavily discussed or I've posted in the wrong location please let me know. I'm still learning my ways around these parts.

I have had great results on my black '04 coupe using Chadwicks triple play products. Haven't washed it with soap and water in years. Check out his video at www.chadwickstripleplay.com.

Black is more work yes, but worth it I think.
Note my Vette is silver, but I have 2 other black vehicles.
I have not used waterless washes. Good old 2-bucket method; quality car washing soap; quality wax; claybar 1/yr.

I love mine when it's clean. When it's not i am embarrassed to drive it but as soon as I get in and drive i forget what is outside. I love my C5ZO6 and will keep it even after i get whatever is next.

To me a dirty black Z looks better than any other color clean or dirty. Now when it's clean, even more so...!
I wash mine somewhat regularly, earlier this year had a professional team give it a once over.
Buy it, drive it daily, enjoy it.

Three out of our last five cars have been black (our C5 is white and one SUV was silver). I agree the color looks good on almost any vehicle style I've seen it on - but, it does take a little more effort to keep it looking clean and sharp. Lot of different ideas on how to keep a black vehicle looking its best, whether it is a water-less wash or a two bucket wash program. Perhaps you need to try each of the ideas and see which is the best approach for you to use to maintain your "beauty."
Just don't run it through an automated car wash!!!

I had ONE black corvette in my lifetime. No more. I obsessed over keeping scratches off that car. Finally, in the end, I had a professional detailer complete a full paint correction then I had PPF applied on the front bumper, full hood, full fenders, door handles, tank cover, trunk lid (convertible) and along the rocker panels. Then I installed side skirts to keep stone chips at bay then ceramic coated. I maintained it by washing it (no soap), then drying with a leaf blower, then microfiber. It ALWAYS looks gorgeous and no swirls, chips or scratches developed.
I kept the car for nearly 5 years .... and it still looked great. I felt like I could really enjoy the car knowing I had protections on the car. May seem like overkill but I think it was money well spent. I just bought a 99' FRC (red). It goes for the paint correction this weekend ... then in a few weeks, PPF and ceramic coating.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks for all the responses! I'm just getting home so I wasn't able to respond to everyone. I think y'all helped me make a decision, now it's up to me and the dealership to get the numbers right. I'll probably start off with the two bucket wash and a good was and will definitely look into the Chadwick's product y'all mentioned. The cars in all the pictures looked amazing. Thanks!

Had my paint professionally corrected and ceramic coated. The finish was starting to look a little dull and I managed to screw it up even more. Could not be happier with the end results.

Another vote for chadwicks here. Makes it very easy to keep it looking nice. I get lots of compliments on how clean the car is.
