Default Z07 suspension verification question

Hi all,
I recently purchased a 2017 Z06. It has the carbon ceramic brakes ground effects package. The dealer I bought it from pulled the build sheet and it says its a Z07. I'm just curious though, if the brakes and ground effects were chosen as a standalone options without the overall Z07 package, would the build sheet show the car as a Z07 just because of the brakes? Ideally I'd love to know if there is a way to visually verify from some aspect of looking at the car or one of the stickers on the car what the suspension actually is.

Brakes: I think starting 2017, CCB brakes became a stand-alone option for those who'd like to get it without the Z07 option.
Aero: The aero package that you can buy will be missing a few pieces, if you don't select Z07 option. AFAIK, Z07 package adds the larger canards by the front fenders, and also the rear spoiler's adjustable wicker. If you have those aero pieces on a new car, it should be a Z07.

Other than these tell-tale features, keep in mind that Z07 adds MPSC 2 tires, stiffer springs, different shocks, and various tweaks (e.g. ABS, PTM, etc.) to better handle the additional traction. I think these are great features for a car that'd see track duty.

Yep, if it just has the CCB and stage 2 ground effects it's most likely just a standalone option and they can't mark it as a Z07.

if you see the stage 3 aeros in the trunk, CCB and cup 2 tires it's more likely a Z07.. another sign is the price of course lol

The Z07 package will also be listed in the options sticker. It will be In the trunk, under the carpet where the battery is located.

If the car is a Z07 the RPO tag will have Z07 and FE7 printed on it. Both of those nomenclatures are RPO numbers. The Z07 represents the package and FE7 represents the suspension. Z06s come with two suspensions: FE6 for the base Z06 and FE7 for the Z07 version.

To find the RPO sticker you need to peel back the rear carpet from under the rear trunk trim and you will see it next to the rear electrical center near the center of the car. Here is what mine looks like:

This label shows how the car was configured at the factory. Every part on the car is related to an RPO code in some way.

Thanks, this was the perfect response! Looks like I got a Z07, but with Z06 suspension. So I guess choosing the brakes and/or ground effects package independently makes it a Z07. Interesting.

You have a Z06 with J57 CCBs...it’s not a Z07.

Ah, the 1YZ07 is actually just the base code for Z06 Coupe, that doesnt mean it's a Z07. Yeah, that makes sense now. Z06 with the brakes and ground effects option chosen independently.

Sounds like the dealer owes you an explanation or some money.

The dealer will just back peddle a bit and say they meant it had the z07 tires, rotors and calipers. What is the difference in cost for the stand alone brakes+tire option versus the full z07 package on a new car?

Before I drove a few hours to the dealer to get this one I had already had the VIN checked by my regular local service dealer (I had a Z51 I was trading in on the Z06) who told me the suspension was FE6, not FE7. So I was buying it based on the value assumption that it was a Z06 with brakes upgrade. After we made a deal I was happy with and signed the papers he pulled the build sheet and told me I got lucky, its actually a Z07. Didn't feel right, that's why I came here and asked. I assume he mistook the 1YZ07 base code to mean it was a Z07.

It's a Chevy certified 2017 3LZ Z06, Torch Red exterior, Adrenaline Red interior, with:
carbon ceramic brakes
carbon fiber with carbon flash ground effects
carbon instrument panel and steering wheel trim
carbon flash mirrors
carbon hood sticker
black wheels
automatic
15k miles

After a few hours of negotiating, I paid $67,995. I watched cargurus and autotrader for weeks looking at 2016-2018 3LZ Z06's all over the country so I had a good feel for what they were selling for. I'm happy with that price.

It was a brake only package.

No not really, the Z07 package also requires the aero package at ~ $3K for carbon flash or $4K for carbon fiber.

Old thread, thought I'd chime in. This site let's you pull your original sticker for $8. https://monroneylabels.com/#

When I'm car shopping used cars if I really like a car I'll pull the sticker before calling the dealer. I don't mind burning $50-100 in the process if it saves me the time and hassle talking to dealers that don't know what they have. It's shocking how many options are not labeled correctly including the z07 package
