Default Cost of gas in VIR?

Does anyone know the cost of 93 gas in VIR? Or, how much premium over current prices?

Any close by gas station with Top Tier fuel? I looked online, and the close by gas stations I found look old and run down.

I am driving my car there, so I can't haul gas with me.

I seem to recall a small convenience store in Milton (right outside VIR) that was a Shell station. Yes, it's old and run down, but that doesn't mean that the gas is old...

You're going to pay a premium just because of the location. Plus, it's in NC, not VA, and our taxes are higher.

I was at VIR in August. Don't know the price of gas on the property ( pit area) but nearby Danville is only 5 miles away and there are numerous Top Tier stations there. Currently a BP station in Danville shows $2.98 for 93. Sam's Club is $2.65 for premium ( don't know if Sam's is TT ).

Gas prices are cheap in southern VA compared to PA. I'm at our lake home at Smith Mountain Lake at the moment and the price for regular is $2.41 most places around me........ at our primary home in PA it's $2.90

Use GAS BUDDY app on your phone and you can look up prices before going......

When I was there over the summer, the pits in the pump were a little more than $1.00 more a gallon than the local prices. So, not cheap, but not terrible.

As noted, there are a number of stations in Danville where I get gas on the way, but I do end up filling up mid day at the track.

Thanks, I agree $1.00 up charge is not terrible. With a full tank, I can probably go for 3 20-min session, right?

Fill for the last session, then go to town and fill the tank for second day.
I prefer not to leave the track midday to go get gas.

That depends on whether you have an LT1 Vs an LT4 and how hard you are pressing. With my LT4 when running hard I need to fill up after each session or plan on cutting my next session short. I can't go two full sessions on one tank of fuel without risking running out of fuel on the track.

One thing you need to pay attention to when using the VIR pumps is the pump with the 93 fuel also has 100 octane fuel. Make sure you select the correct one or you will be paying $8 per gallon for 100. Easy to make a mistake especially if somebody is talking to you while you are selecting.

Perhaps not the age of the gas, however old poor quality equipment can effect the quality of the gas.

Thanks Bill. I have the LT1 Grand Sport. It is my first HPDE, so I doubt I will be passing anyone...
$8 a gallon will suck big time

that sounds about right. Lou Gigliotti at Nurburgring with his highly-modified C7, I think he wrote he was getting something like 65 miles on a tankful.

Download the "Gas Buddy" app on your phone, then you can see what the price is anywhere in the country real time. Good Luck on your trip!

I read through this thread and got a little nostalgic lol. If it makes you feel any better I was at Mosport/ CTMP up here outside Toronto on Tuesday...$9.828 a gallon for 94 octane ($2.60/litre). A track day costs me about $425CDN just for fuel.

We're around $8.90/ gal for 93 or 94 at a normal station
