Is gm parts direct.com a ligit supplier?
i am looking to replace a chrome wheel I damaged. I have listed it in the wanted to buy section of this forum with no results. I called GM parts direct last Thursday and gave them the vin of my Vette. The told me someone will contact me by noon that day. I didn’t hear anything. I went to their webpage and tried ordering the wheel there but nothing happened. Has anyone done business with them? Are they a legitimate GM parts supplier?

I've ordered parts from them. No problems, but I order online w/o human contact as much as possible. If the part is in stock the orders I've done have placed and no issues.
With ALL of these GM parts suppliers I shop price. You have to look at both the part price and the ship BC they ALL play around with those two #s. I've seen parts cheaper at one, but they make up for it in the ship. The difference is pretty significant high to low when you find the part at the right price and ship. I do not favor one of these suppliers since the parts are all the same. It's best price.

Also, look on Amazon. The last item I purchased was through Amazon but furnished by one of the GM suppliers. It was not only cheaper but was also free freight.

I have used GM Parts Direct for years for both my Corvettes & my Cadillacs & have been very satisfied with their service.
Sometimes the “contact us” portion of the website doesn’t go thru. The site is a little hard to navigate but stay with it. If you find the wheel you think you want, include the Vin # of your car. If for some reason it is not correct (the order) they will email back to you to help correct it. Use PayPal to settle up...it works for me.

You might have some luck looking for that wheel on eBay.

I tried using them once, but it was not a great experience. After ordering they sent me an e-mail that the parts were no longer in stock and could take weeks to complete the order. It then turned into a chore to cancel the order. A quick search for reviews online turns up a lot of negative reviews and similar experiences to mine. Like others have said, I would consider House of Wheels.

There are lots of GM dealers that have a backdoor website parts dept. My closest dealer doesn't do that, so occasionally I'll need something quicker than waiting for shipping and I'll print out the website page I've found it on and the part dept will either match it or come real close. Their choice is to either sell it at the wholesale price to a customer standing at the counter or lose the deal to a shipping cost by a online dealer.

Reach out to Gene (Gene Culley) at Cultrag. I believe he is a forum vendor and he will price match any supplier. I've ordered a few things from him and received everything very quickly. Very responsive to messages as well.
