What year?
how low is the mileage?
Condition of paint and interior
6 speed or automatic?
Good title?
The answers to these questions might make a $10,000 difference.

I just went through a six-month search for my vette (FRC). Convertibles were in the same range as mine ... anywhere from $14k to $16k seemed to be the price range. There is a nice one on the FB Marketplace with 35k miles, for $15k in Royersford, PA. White/white. Excellent condition. By the way, I have zero, zip, nadda relationship with the seller. Just passing info along.
I went and looked at it, but decided that I wanted the profile of the vert, but not a vert ... so I went for an FRC.
Good luck with your search ...

I am so confused on what to do. I loved my 01' mistakenly sold it to buy too nice of a boat for my family. I should have bought a cheap boat and kept the vette.
I bought it in 03' with 10K on it and it was perfect! I added 18K in upgrades. 19/20" Iforged rims with conti tires. ECS supercharger kit and all I mean all the correct supporting items to go along with it. I didn't miss a thing. 535RWHP
I am a complete perfectionist ..... I need things perfect or they bother me. I also love power. I am not sure where to go with a vette purchase. I have 30K max budget.
I can buy a super clean low millage vette and pay extra to get a mint ultra clean car and then pay for all the upgrades and make it perfect. but that will end up nickle and diming me. or I could buy something maybe abused and not perfect but get a deal on the upgrades......?????
I also battle the C5 or C6 thing...... there are both pluses and minuses to them. biggest thing for me is I don't like the C6 headlights and what they did to the C6 rear end. C5 rear is much more exotic and FAT looking.
Help me work thing mind set thing out!!

You remind me of myself (OCD about my Vette)
I opted to buy a low mileage car (Z06 in my case) that I knew had been garaged, unmolested, and unabused. I was willing to pay more for basically a car that was still new as a base to build upon. You know, the solid foundation principle.
I went with a C5 primarily because it was my favorite, but also what I saved in the cost difference from a C6 could be used toward the mods I wanted to do.
Sounds like you've found a nice one if you like the colors and can negotiate a good deal, and you should be able to have enough left over to start modding it the way you had your other one.
This time of year should be a good time for negotiating on a Vette and/or any convertable car.

IMO, $18-20K would be in the range for a really clean, well maintained ‘02 with those miles. The price could vary though based on your location and the options that are on the car. I’m just basing this on what I have seen C5s listed for in this area.

It would depend on the owner, how he stored and maintained the car and if he is a car / Corvette guy and the car was one of many cars he owned or part of a collection and was a limited use car. When I bought my '99 in 2006 it had only 1658 miles on it and the owner had a large car collection so he used it infrequently, stored it in an air conditioned heated building with all of his other cars and made sure to drive it and maintain it properly.
A car that was just sitting because the person bought it impulsively off the showroom floor, drove it for a year or so and then just let it sit negleted for all this time would be worth much less to me.
In the first scenario, if the car in perfect condition would be worth $20K-$22K to me, especially a one owner car that was special ordered and was exactly what I was looking for and one that I would have ordered myself.
The second scenario I wouldn't consider, but inho I would value it at $17K.

I found my 2003 vert with auto in the for sale forum about 100 miles from my house. It was a one owner with 28,000 miles and it was bone stock and spotless. Fantastic shape!
Before I bought it I looked at quite a few in person and online and what everyone was saying about how much I should pay for it.
I ended up paying more and don't regret it at all. I got a fantastic car.
I spent some money on a double din head unit with a backup camera and changed out all the hoses and belts along with having the harmonic balancer changed out for peace of mind. Strictly preventative measures on my part because the car needed nothing.
My wife and I will have this car until one of us kicks the bucket. We love it.
Pay what you have to if you like it and enjoy!.

That is one of my worries I talked the guy selling and joked with him about the low millage.....after he said that he just changed the oil last week. I said as a joke wow was that your first oil change??? and he said no the 2nd
what would your thoughts be at that point? I am at a distance from where it is located..... thought about having him take it to a chevy dealer and I pay to have them give me the service records if any and give the car a complete once over and seal of health.....

is it a great buy with such question marks about how well it was maintained if at all over 16 years? I know it is very very unused car which is what I want.... but what could be bad? The owner says it was driven about 4-500 miles per year. never seen rain or was even wet washed.... but doesn't sound like any preventative maint was done as it was unused....
it is a definite double edge sword for sure.
what would the value be with this circumstance?

I think that would be a great buy. I had a 2002 vert sitting in my yard for sale with a asking price of $25,500.00 this September. It was low mileage and magnetic red A4 with minor mods (bolt ons). The car got a lot of looks but did not sell. It was not mine and I think it was a bit overpriced. If it is the car in the link in post 17 it would be a good buy at that price IMHO. That car looks like brand new.
Good luck with your decision.

I bought a 4,000 mile 2002 Z06 a couple of years ago. I had to spend about $1600 changing all the fluids and buying new tires because of age. Other than those items, these low mileage cars seldom need anything other than what can be seen. A six speed convertible with those low miles and in the yellow color could easily be worth the asking price. If you look at enough auction prices you will find they are bringing that kind of money. That investment is not for everybody and many are going to prefer the cheaper higher mileage car.
