Default Steering wheel feels looser since i bought the car

Bought the car sept 2016. And i noticed this year the steering wheel isnt as sharp as when i bought it. Still feels good but just looser. Could this be an alignment thing?

Most likely an alinement issue and or tire wear. While you have the car in the shop have the shocks checked for leakage and the condition of all suspension components including the power steering components.

Loose how? Like it moves front to back? Ot loose like it's super light to steer? These cars have light steering because of electric power steering. Most all cars do nowadays. If you want steering feel you have to buy a C4 ornearlier..

If its loose front to back, the wheel nut may be coming loose.

Based on some of your previous threads, have you considered something other than a Corvette?

not abnormally loose but when im turning the wheel only. When i bought the car the steering had more of a racing feel to it like bit harder to turn which i liked. Now i notice the steering is easier but didnt notice any other problems. Car still makes turns very fast just steering wheel got easier to steer. Iv put about 6000 miles so far

Where on earth did you come up with that one. They all use hydraulic fluid.

Simple solution. Loose nut behind the steering wheel.
Think about it......

You might want to look up MagnaSteer speed sensitive steering. C6 has it.

AFAIK, all things being equal caster will affect the perceived looseness or tightness of the steering. I would have the alignment checked.

Depending on the year, latter c6s with mag ride will stiffen the steering up when put in sport setting. Touring mode is super sloppy and loose in my opinion. Everyone is moving over to EPS systems at the expense of nice firm steering. Part of why most new sports cars feel like crap imo.

And what does that have to do with hydraulic fluid in a C6.

That's got nothing to do with the mag ride. It has all to do with the dual mode steering rack which was introduced for the 2011 model year and is tied into the active handling and stability control. When you put your car in Competitive Driving Mode (any C6 model) the steering stiffens and the active handling comes off for track use or winding mountain roads. The steering efforts are higher providing better driver communication with the tire patch.

You're the one that came up with that. FAUEE mentioned electric power steering and you mocked him for that. Magnasteer is electronic. Yes, the c6 uses hydraulic power assist. It also uses electromagnetic drag. Both are right. imagine that, huh?

The C6 does not have electric power steering, the C7 does using a electrically controlled, worm-gear rack and pinion system. The C6 uses hydraulically controlled steering with electric assist, big difference and not considered electric steering in the auto world.

Either alignment or maybe you've gotten used to it? Was there a sudden change? Or something you're just wondering about?

tbh it feels sloppy and loose at very slow speeds like in parking lot but when im at the speed limit or cruising the steering is sharp and reacts right away.
