Corsa garage install...after action report
Hey all! I'm just sharing my "exhaust adventure" in swapping out the factory LT5 set up for a Corsa. After many questions and hours on You Tube listening to exhaust, I decided to do the swap. Here is my "After action report" on the process. In no particular order:
1. This swap can be done by people with reasonable skills and no fancy tools. Be prepared for the "un known" (more to follow)
2. Have a buddy help you (thanks Alan!) as this is a two person job.
3. The removal was straight forward EXCEPT for one bolt that stripped and needed to be drilled out. If everything came out "normal" the removal would have taken 45 minutes. Instead it took 3 hours, but that was because we made runs to the hardware store, beer stop and pizza. A strong drill is your friend.
4. I painted the mufflers and pipes with heat resistant paint. I like my "underneath" of the car muted. This added a bit of time.
5. The fit and finish of the Corsa system is very good. The install was very quick... like 30 minutes. However the alignment of the mufflers took about an hour, but that is because I'm super fussy.
6. The clamps provided really will provide a secure seal against exhaust leaks. No welding necessary., but the pipes under the suspension is super close... YIKES!
7. Tone is deeper and better than factory. No (ZERO) drone as advertised and sounds great above 4k. At cruise it sounds factory quiet.
Yes, it was worth the money.

Nice work. The alignment looks great.
You're right, it takes a while to "adjust" the system, but the Corsa is made well, works well, and there is no drone

Yes the pipes do fit close to the rear spring; on mine I used a clamp on heat shield over the pipes in that area; a few wraps of header insulation would have worked just as well. Cheap insurance

Nice work, I'm looking at the same job soon but instead swapping over to a B&B 3" (2nd gen) on my 94 LT1, thanks for the post as I was debating if I should attempt in the garage but doesn't look like too much of a raise is needed. I have a 6 ton jacks from my truck and ramps that I'll use just in case - gives me the creeps to get under the C4

Bill,
Save your original exhaust! Someone will want the whole system, or at least the stock mufflers for $$$.

Looks good. Although I am partial because I have Corsa on my Dark Red '95
Nice post information also. 2 people would make it easier, but I did mine a couple time by myself. One thing that can help is I have a cheapie low lift transmission jack (from Harbor Freight) that helps a lot. I use the lift to balance the exhaust at around the resonator, then can roll it forward/backward or lower or lift it.
