Default Basic bolt-on ZR1 drag results

Hey all, I finally had a chance to get back to the track after my first round of basic starter mods. The conditions were pleasant, but not at all ideal DA for racing --- mid/low 70's but 80-90% humidity...! Despite the weather, the track surface prep was on kill!

Mods:
LPE snout
LPE 2.6" pulley
Synergy 4.5" intake
gutted cats
DMS reinforced bricks
335/30/18 Hoosier DR2's
My HP Tuners tuning

Best MPH --- first pass feeling out the track (sticky!):

60'............. 1.837
330'........... 4.754
660'........... 7.10
660’ mph... 105.81
1000'.......... --
1320'.......... 10.761
1320’ mph… 135.30

Best ET and 60' --- 4th and final pass; hot-lapped and sat/idled in the staging lanes for ~10 minutes, so zero cool down between runs:

60'............. 1.591
330'........... 4.436
660'........... 6.759
660’ mph... 106.28
1000'.......... --
1320'.......... 10.405
1320’ mph… 134.25

All slips:

In-car of the 10.4 @ 134.25 pass --- never mind the 1/8 mile grudge car in the left lane giving me the business LOL!

More videos to come when I have a chance to do some editing.

Overall I'm continually impressed with this car --- all of these runs were produced in real-world conditions at a random TnT. No cool downs, no pushing the car through the staging lanes, no icing the intake or any other glory run BS. Also, no WOT shifts; all were full-lift. I'm attending a rental next month so the weather should be awesome for racing. I think low low 10's all day long will be achievable; we'll see what she's got on a "glory run". Maybe a few small mods before..?

Nice times! I will do something very similar, when my GMEPP runs out next year!

nice and sounded great. Good times considering you really weren't 'beating' on the powertrain.

Thanks, fellas!

Outside view:

I've been thinking about this rental next month.. What's the next bang for the buck mod I can do between now and then? I'd like to do a smaller pulley but IDC's are already sky high. I'm not sure how LPE advised you can run either of their pulleys on the stock injectors, since I'm already at 90+ % on the 2.60..! The next round of major mods will be coming in spring, but not sure what else is out there that would provide an incremental gain. Maybe I'll give the new Kong air divider a go?

Very nice run and good driving Pump gas? How much boost at the end of that run?

Thanks, man!

Pump 93. It's averaging 13 - 13.5psi throughout the run.

Get some cooling mods (Heat Exchanger/Tank), those IAT2s gotta be high if you dont have any.

Kong expansion tank, Kong air divider for under supercharger lid (legit hp/tq gains), and injectors with e85. That’ll give a really nice boost in # and add some cooking to get IATs down faster after a pull

Cooling mods are absolutely on the to-do, but won't happen before the next track outing. IAT2's are very manageable out on the street where there's constant airflow through the HX. They were definitely toasty on these runs, due to the system being totally heat-soaked from sitting/idling. Once saturated they sat around 113° without any air moving through the HX -- not a great starting point. The trick I learned at my last track outing in March (awesome weather) was to take a lap around the parking lot to get air through the HX and drop the IAT2's way down and then go line up for a pass. As a result my starting IAT2's were ~85° which is a pretty decent starting point, all things considered. The way they were running the different classes on this recent outing didn't give me the same opportunity. However, at this rental there will only 25 cars so I should be able to do my 'cool down' lap before staging, so I'm not too worried about the cooling (and the weather should be awesome). That alone should be a significant gain in power, so I'm feeling very optimistic.

I'm intrigued by the Kong divider; initial results look promising, but I really wanted to see some numbers on a more mild setup like mine. I have access to a dyno so I would be a good guinea pig, but not so sure I want to drop the $$$ in the name of science. My thought is the gains would be proportional to the power/airflow, to a point, and therefore it's less bang for the buck on setups like mine not moving a ton of air. Happy to be wrong about that, though. Maybe I'll talk myself into trying it --- I feel like I should change up something before heading out again.

Heading back to the track this Sunday for one last shot before more mods. The weather should be good with temps starting in the 50's and creeping into the 60's by early afternoon. We won't get that magical mine shaft negative DA, but we should be pretty close to sea level.

Nice job and great documentation. As my car has virtually the same set of basic mods I'm following with interest. Please do continue to update and let us know how it responds if/when you make additional changes.

I'm especially intrigued with the Kong divider if you decide to go that route. I've just about pushed the order button a couple of times on one, but would really like to see what kind of gains can be expected on a relatively mild setup like this.

I'm in the same boat... very mild mods (relatively speaking), and unless there are significant gains by a new intake/divider/etc, I can't see spending the $$ and effort to install and retune the engine for just a few more ponies.

no retune required for the divider
