Default Does the Burgandy and tan top wear well ?

I really like the look of this color combo but have not seen one close up, are there problems going with a tan top or this color ... Thanks...

My top looks like new and it's 17 years old with 80k miles on it.. I clean it and treat it every few years. The car is garaged, the top is usually down and I don't drive it off road. All depends on how you treat your car. If you keep it parked under a pine tree and drive it on the worst roads your results may vary.

Yes, the tan does get dirty. And if you are a perfectionist........it will test you.
But it can be kept reasonably clean.

The original tan top on my 02 vert still looks good. It has always been garaged but has 56,000 miles and seen it's share of Florida sun. I wouldn't own a black top (or black car) living in the south due to the fact it is much hotter in the sun.

When young I had white tops and they were work. I've become happy without white wall tires too. I'm in Fl also with a black top and the car cools easily. If you're willing to take care of the tan top then get it. Just make sure you learn how to maintain it.

I don't get what driving on rough roads has to do with the top.

I have a black top on my 03 vert so I can't answer your question but I have seen tan tops with what looks like mildew stains.
If you stay on top of maintaining the top it should last a long time.
Good luck!

Not rough roads. Dirt roads, gravel roads, muddy roads, off road roads. My tan top is hardly any work Every few years I clean it and treat it with 303. It looks new after 80K miles. Garaging the car makes a big difference,

Very easy to keep clean. 50/50 bleach and water 2x a year. 03 and top still looks new as paint. Open parked, not garaged in humid Florida.

Does the bleach affect the wax or sealant? How do you apply it? I have a light oak top that is showing some black marks I think from rubbing. Does this work well for that. Thanks in advance.

I put it on with a rag. Wet car first, wipe on and be careful around edges of to to avoid runs. If it does, hose off. Never have left marks on paint. Let sit for 10 min. Before ringing off. Should work on black mark. Do not use brush when cleaning top while washing car, wears the top. Hope it works for you.

How rare are these cars in a stick ? also how rare is this color combo ?

I found one but it is a Auto and it just seems most Verts are auto ?

Silver with black top and polished wheels looks is good, I don't think I could live with yellow long term ? I think maroon in a tan top might be tops in looks for these ?

You know I was looking at the C6's just trying to get a handle as to why the car just does not seem to look as good as a well done C5, I know the C6 is a good bit better car all around but.........looks......

The C6 had great potential but the huge air vent on the side hurts it good, looks like a jet or something and also the headlights. If they would have done this better the car would completely rock IMO but they didn't. Also on the GS I don't like the fish gills on the side in the front added to the air vent as it only makes the styling flaw worse IMO, maybe I am missing something here as a newbie..... I know they did it as funtion to cool the brakes.

Also on these C5's which model cars add the thin long buldge strip down the middle of the front brake air opening ? .

The pics are of the 2003 50th Anniversary Edition. In '03, there were 7547 convertibles made that were 50th Anniversary cars (RPO 1SC). All had the special Anniversary Red paint and a two-tone Shale interior. All of the convertible tops were the tan color. There was also a Light Oak convertible top that was available on other paint colors. The C5 generation cars also had a "Magnetic Red II" color available.

There were called "Body Side Moldngs" and were a $75 option on any of the body styles. Something like 60% of all C5's were built with BSM's. Some people who buy a used C5 do remove them. They are held on with tape so if you work carefully, they can be removed and the body panels can be cleaned up so it looks like they were never there.

Thankyou, the strips are UGLY imo, so they will come off and you can clean it up and never know they were there.

The Z06 was the same ?

The opening on the C5 was done tastefully and actually adds to it minus the center strip, on the C6 it was not IMO.

Look best with top down
