c5 driver side gets slack in the rear cable at the lowered position then comes off of pulley. the front cable is still taught. replaced regulator a year ago and it has worked good til now.

Melting Slicks
My guess with out seeing it is one of the plastic guides is damaged at the bottom of the regulator.
So, to answer your question it would be to replace the regulator again.

Thanks for reply
I found the problem, there are springs around the cable housing coming out of gearbox the one going to the rear cable had lost its grip on the outer cable housing(sleeve). Put on a tie wrap on the housing and pushed it against the spring before I tightened it. It took out the slack of the inner cable and stays on pulley now.
I will keep an eye on it in case the tie wrap slips, if it does I'll have to pull motor assembly loose to make a more secure clamp of some kind. Sorry no pictures, I could not even see what I was doing.
