Lug nut problem

Lug nut problem
While changing brakes this weekend,torquing my lug nuts, about half of them had the same issue: at about 90 ftlb, there was significantly less torque, for about 1/6 of a turn. after that, they would tighten up again and I was able to torque them to 100. Checked them all after a short drive, and they all held torque.
Could this possibly be worn lug nuts, or indication of a future problem? Since I have owned the car, I have used an air wrench to remove and torque wrench to reinstall.

Are you using any lubricant? Never lubricate lugs or lug nuts.

Is there a chance your wrench is messed up instead of the nuts or studs?

Pull only one lug, look for metal shavings on the stud and inside the lug, then put it back on and torque it. If it does not 'lose torque' again, it was likely the wheel pulling onto the hub. You can repeat for all 5 to be sure.
