C5 Corvette, side by side with .......
Found this photo op, when I finished with Golf today.
When C7 first came out, many didn't like the newest Corvette, the rear (Camaro like) end, or the lines of the car. I was not one of them. I liked the C7, from the outset, in regards to aesthetics. But, that did not make me appreciate (love) the beauty of my 2003 SuperCharged C5 one bit less. I still believe the lines of C5 are timeless, and with updates in power & suspension, this car is and will remain relevant, in any Sports Car / Performance discussion. I have the exact Corvette I want! I've had it for a long time, and I wanted it for a long time, before I found it.
I love pictures of C5 Corvettes next to other generations of Corvette, other Sports Cars, muscle cars, and the like. What photos have you got, in kind, to add to these I've started with? Let's see 'em !!!

I still can't get into the C7, but I don't have anything against it. The owners son where I work drives a Camaro. It's a 6 banger, but it's the only pic I have of the sort.

2020 C5 of the Year Winner- Unmodified
Hey Donald- Good comparison shot. I've thought about that comparison too. I do like a lot of things about the C7, and the C6 as well. However, I think your photo shows the C5 to be the more slippery shape. Don't know if there is any comparison wind tunnel data on the two versions. My guess would be the C5 with less drag and the C7 with more downforce. Of course, some C5 add-ons can help with downforce. But most of us are not racing our C5s, so aero is not that big a deal. So, the subjective visual is probably most important. I guess if money was no object we might all like to have all the versions......for me, that will only be in my dreams....

I believe the drag coefficient of the C7 is the best yet for Corvette with the C5 coming in a close second. I love my C5 triple black vert but would trade it for a C7 if I could afford it also. Cheers, Rob

While newer generations of the Corvette are beautiful cars in their own right, the C5, as I think history will judge it, has classic styling that will allow it to remain a popular sports car for many years to come.

I've got triple black 2001 vert, and a night race blue (Kalahari interior), I love 'em both. The C-7 is head and shoulders above the C-5, but I still love the C-5

I don't mind the rear of the C7, though it's not as "finished" as the C5 IMHO, but I like them all!

To me, the tail lights on a C7 look similar to those on a computer rendition of a proposed C5 in All Corvettes Are Red (2nd page bottom of photo section). It was judged too radical at the time. Maybe the design has been kicked around for quite some time.

To my mind, lot of photos in this thread now that just prove the point that the C5 is the better looking vehicle. Smoother, sleeker, more 'finished'.
Now side by side with a two-tone '58 might make me change my mind...
