Default 2005 M6 1st and 2nd gear hard to input

Hi, I have an 05 M6 with 66K. I have the skip shift eliminator which is great! However, I find that 1st and 2nd gear can be challenging to downshift into. Has anyone else had this issue?

From what speed? Do you rev match?

No rev matching. Even 1st gear doesn't always want to go in at standstill. So I start to roll in 2nd and then put into 1st. This does not happen all the time. Clutch feels fine, have done the ranger method on the fluid.

Yep, for about three or four shifts. A trans fluid change and every few months the "ranger" method fixed it for me.

I'd check the shifter rail alignment. This usually is the cause of a lot of problems getting into gear. While in there you can also inspect the slop of the shifter and the shifter ball/cap piece to see if its worn down too much.

Actually, had the transmission shop replace the fluid with Redline ATF (OK for manuals also) when they put the CAGs harness on -- this was last June.
I think the alignment mention is more accurate. Anyone have the MGW shifter or other replacement brands? Is it worth it?

Any short throw shift will make the shifting stiffer, because you will have less leverage. I don't see how the alignment could be the problem unless you have wear in the shifter or the coupling that connects the shifter to the transmission shift rod, but I'm guessing. But check the alignment and check for wear as another poster suggested.

If I remember for the manual the ATF has to meet Dexron III standards, so check the RedLine type the transmission shop used.

True True, but I read that the T-56 trans with the LS2 is prone to it since I posted. Darn, another reason to buy an 08 and up!
