On your title for your Vette, does the letter prefix before the vin number indicate the number of owners>
Example, my title was issued in 1979 and has a letter D as a prefix , so am I the 4th or 5th owner ?

First owner no letter, so D means that you are number 5.

Thank you for the info.
It is ancient history since I purchased my 1970 Corvette in March 1979 and of course still have.
After pretty much sitting in my driveway in NJ from 1984 to 1995 and then towed it to Colorado in 1995. It sat in my garage since then and now have started work on getting it road worthy again.
I did not title it in Colorado and still have my original NJ plates

I do not think we are the only 2.
There is a thread where the car has sat for 15 plus years and the owner is now looking to sell his car. His car looks a lot worse than mine. The title of the thread is "70 Corvette Selling it" in this section.

Mine has a 1 in the prefix. The car came from Ct in 96 and had multiple owners in Ct but I have been the only owner in NJ since 96.

I was living in NJ and bought a '62 in 1979. I was owner #20, so I was a lot closer to Z than A.
