Let's Talk Wheels
How many different types of wheels do you think the C8 will have? Could the C8 spell the end to a chrome wheel option?

My ‘14 C7 has Base Chrome. Funny, just two days ago I visited my dealer to discuss getting on their ME list. While there they had two GS’s on the floor next to one another. One chrome the other painted wheels. I thought about which IMO would look best on the ME. My conclusion was the paint ones, even these GS wheels. In person they look that good. IMO the ME will have an international flair even though US made. Painted wheels express that.
EDIT: Note where I live. Yuengling Lager for me!

Painted (2 or 3 colors), machine faced and chrome in 2 or 3 styles initially. I don't see chrome going away - too many Corvettes sold with chrome wheels.

Total?
3, or 4 by the time all models of the C8 get introduced.

Wheels are a big, easy seller. It would be wise to have more than 3 styles, finishes, but it might not happen first year. I'd go black, chrome, painted silver and machine face, and two styles of wheels. Price would be similar to now: $0 to maybe $2,500-$3,000 for most-expensive option.

Lets get rid of the "car was on fire" black wheel option!

I'm hoping they offer a lightweight magnesium wheel as an option like they did for the C5.

I like shinny wheels, either chrome or a highly polished wheel. I do not like dark/black wheels. The black wheels remind me of the old hotrodders and their black steel wheels. Just don’t like that look.

is there even other sports car currently being built has an optional factory chrome wheel?
if gm wants to attract a younger crowd and limits wheel finish choices to three they need to dump the chrome and add in its place a bold color like blue or red
in the end they wont because of the behind the times, im never going to get rid of my home phone, corvette jacket, shoes and tie wearing crowd... plus they get an extra 2 grand out of you guys.
chrome is great for faucets and ... well thats about it.

The rotary forged wheel manufacture is fine BUT the wheel design should be such that they don't bend!
Really like my machined face Grand Sport wheels and after 19 months no bending issues. They are made in Mexico and rotary forged.

1. Go back to good wheels where light weight and strength was a selling feature i.e. C5 Z06 putting the forged Alcoa wheels int he marketing copy. Yes they switched to cast Speedlines 2002-2004, but they were a pound lighter than the Alcoas. Today's C7 wheels are made in China and Mexico, are crazy heavy, and bend/crack if you look at them wrong.
2. Allow room between the brake caliper and body for a wheel with some dish. Current trend seems to have wheels stretched to the edge of the vehicle with flat faces and no lip. This is mostly due to finally having good brakes with large calipers, but it'd be nice to have both.
3. Offer a competition grey option.
My $0.02

The second item would limit suspension geometry.

I change the wheels on my car to a powder coated battleship grey with a hint of gold metal flake.
I like this color better than silver, chrome, and black and it presents less dirt problems to those with OCD.
