Melting Slicks
Unless the person at the dealership was Rick Hendrick, who probably has more access to the higher ups at GM than any other dealership owner, I wouldn't believe what any dealership employee said on classified items.

https://www.autoshowny.com/ that is April 2019 WOW that would suck.
Still hoping it's in GM’s backyard, as this is a bigger show. But if it is they will still be building C7”s that are not selling, after the reveal it won't get any better.
Detroit show.
Date: 14 to 27 January 2019
Location: Cobo Center, Detroit, Michigan US
Based in Detroit the historic basin of the industry in America, NAIAS is the largest car show in north America. Every year over 800,000 car professionals and aficionados come from all over the world to see what over 180 brands have to offer. This is not just a motor show, as it hosts not only manufacturers but also suppliers, innovative technological companies, government organisations and universities.
Although it’s not the biggest show in the world it’s still a reference in terms of innovation and technology, especially in recent years thanks to its partnership with Techstars Mobility. So the most innovative start ups in the sector are showcased. In 2017 more than 50 tech stars were in the spot light on subjects such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, stand alone and connected platforms, security applications and communications infrastructure.

We often believe what we want to happen will happen. (Me too maybe wrongly)
Seems to me there has not been any official teasing reveals by GM yet and time is running short.
I haven't seen any official acknowledgement of the car.
Could there be technical issues they are working on before it's a go.
Don't forget someone in charge has to say it's ready and then their and GM's butt is on the line.
Keeping my deposit on the order list.

Safety Car
As to whether there are current holds ups and problems? None slowing down the car at this time, and yet as all who know about the validation process, they are continuing to daily work through the expected mini-matters all along the way.
In short, car remains on its original production schedule — just that we “impatients” (I too am a charter member of that group), wish and want the car to be revealed tomrorow, start production the day after.
As to your keeping your deposit, that is good/smart.
All is going well with the car’s development. If somehow, forums could dispense doses of “patience.”
