Chassis recommendation

Chassis recommendation
I have a 71 convertible that my son and I took down to the frame. A previous owner had the entire back end of the chassis reinforced with welded metal plates. I then had new sections welded in, connecting the rear chassis to the front. Never the less, I am second guessing that decision. With the amount of welding (done previously) and the new sections, I would prefer to now replace the frame all together. I had some online conversations with someone who suggested I use a new frame but have it built to use later model suspension so the vehicle will have a better ride and handling.
I am looking for some suggestions on where to look for a new frame? Also, has anyone replaced their frame with connections for more modern suspension? Any tips/guidance/help greatly appreciated.

Is there a place to look for someone on a budget? I don't intend to ever race the vehicle but want it to last so that when my kids inherit or I give them the car, they have no worries about the frame. I just want it to be safe.

They are out there, just have to hunt a bit.
As far as suspension swaps, yes, plenty of options. None of them are great on the budget. But then a 1971 Corvette is not great on the budget either...

Post some photos of the frame you have and the modifications.
There are threads and articles available that help reinforce the stock frame and about completely welding the seams to improve the OEM frames.
There is extensive welding and numerous gussets placed and that could be all that was done to your frame.
Photos will help the pros here on the forum better evaluate the frame you have and give you guidance.

Cherry Hill is located about two hours South of me. If it makes sense for you I can come down and look at your frame and offer some guidance. Having rebuilt a few of these now I can give you information that might help you get back on track with your project in a financially friendly way and not break the bank. Your goal is safety first, and that is great to hear. Now let's see if we can help you do it in a financially responsible way. I have PM'd you, will send you my contact data as well. You are not alone on this, many of us on the CF have had similar experiences. I sure know I have.

69-72 Frame
I have a frame that I purchased from David last year. My plans have changed so the frame is available. It is very nice 69-72 4spd frame with the trans mount modified to make it removable. I’m in between Easton and Cherry Hill, in Jamison, Pa. I want $2500.00 for it.
