Saying goodbye to my Vette
As we travel through life our goals and dreams change. For me as a kid growing up in a middle class family owning a Corvette was a dream not likely achieved. My dad was a no nonsense mechanic that worked 70 hours a week to provide for his family and frowned on splurging on anything that was considered a want and not a need. I have been fortunate and thankful that I was able to fulfill my dream of owning my dream car. It was everything I thought and more. But now as I approach retirement my wife and I want to travel and the Vette no longer fits in my dreams. I recently traded it for a new 2018 Chevy Duramax 2500 HD. Now I’m in the market for a new travel trailor and the next chapter of my life. I’ve really enjoyed the Corvette Forum. But who knows maybe there will be another Vette in the picture one day!

Enjoy your retirement Brian. Lots of Corvettes out there and one day the urge may hit you again.

First off, congrats on the coming retirement.
As far as the Vette is concerned, you had a dream of owning one and you fulfilled it. Now it's time to scratch a different itch.
Like others said, if you ever decide to get another one, lots will be available.

Congratulations on your retirement. Enjoy the Duramax. Maybe the itch for a Corvette will hit you again sometime.
I had 2 different Corvettes while I was working, but the itch hit me again after I retired, so I bought 5 more of them.

15 posts in 6 years. Wow! While saying goodbye to the Corvette might have been difficult, I am thinking saying goodbye to the Corvette forum will be no trouble.
best wishes to you in the future.

Today's Chevy trucks are so impressive: Handsome, powerful, reliable and so quiet and luxurious. The wife and I recently sampled a loaded Silverado crew cab pickup -- what an outstanding vehicle! Enjoy your new ride and retirement -- have fun!!

Congrats on the retirement! I hope you enjoy it as much as I am mine.
The wife and I talked casually about a travel trailer or motorhome but ultimately decided that the money for the trailer/motorhome, plus the extra gas, plus $30-$50 a night for trailer hookups would buy a lot of nights in a motel. Different strokes for different folks.

Some nice thoughts here, Brian. Good luck to you and your wife as you go into retirement.
