Default Anybody ever have any metal shavings/glitter in there oil?

Had this motor built, motor was broken in on the engine dyno by the engine builder, got it all in the car and decided to change the oil after 150 miles just to check it and it came out with a bunch of glitter. This is the second oil change since they changed it before sending it out to me. Wondering if anybody has any ideas if it’s normal for a brand new motor or looks like something is going wrong. Cut open the oil filter and also found little pieces but there not metal since they don’t stick to the magnet

It is common to get some metal glitter look to the oil when doing the first oil change. Yours looks to be excessive for the second oil change.

The non-magnetic metal could very well be aluminum.
I would talk to your engine builder ASAP.

That last picture looks like it could possibly be bearing material, no? I would definitely check with them, dont just assume its not some sort of metal because it doesnt stick to the magnet

I’m sending in some oil samples to a lab company to see what type of material it is, I towed the car home when we found that and haven’t started it since

I am thinking that your engine rebuilder is going to have to fix the mistakes he made on your engine on his dime !

If this is the inside off the oil filter, very scary since there are some bigger chuck that would have never made it through the pick up screen.

Hence would guess that the oil pump was not centered on the crank, and its the oil pump that is chewing it self apart.

As for the bronze color, that is from the main bearings.
Which this from the engine before the magnet picked caught the metal shavings, could have caused the main bearing wear.

Bottom line, motor really need to come apart, to see the extent of the wear, and what needs to be replaced.

But please tell me that you did not rebuild/replace an old blow up motor in the car, and the oil lines and oil cooler were not replaced with the new motor.
Hence when the old motor goes south, it shoved a lot of debris into the oil lines and coolers, and there is real no way to clean/flush all the crap out of them, so what it trapped in the oil lines and coolers, tends to come out on it own into the new motor if they are not replaced with new isntead.

What happened to engine that is was rebuilt? Who installed engine? Were oil hoses and cooler (if present) flushed prior to starting engine?

Again, dam near impossible to get all the crap out for the coolers and lines from a blown motor (that will work free and come out at a later date down the road), so flushing does not cut it, and oil lines and coolers have to be replaced from the start.

Sorry guys had a pretty bad car accident so been stuck in the hospital for awhile now. I’m just now feeling omg better to reply. So the first motor broke #7 piston so I had this one build. The only think I ran was the actual dry sump tank and I can it taken apart and cleaned. I did not run the actual oil cooler and lines due to knowing it’s nearly impossible to get all of that out.

my drain plugs looked like that,
was bearing material.
rod rub was the root cause. this was on a semi fresh rebuilt motor too.
bet car gets hard to start when its hot.
