Default Auto Tilt Mirrors in Reverse

Has anyone had issues with the auto tilt function on the side mirrors? I had to disable the automatic mirror tilt, because the mirror will not return back to where I had them. I have a 2016 base by the way.

A lot of us have had issues with that feature. Ultimately I gave up and programmed memory 2 to tilt the mirrors down, for those rare occasions I want that functionality.

I've yet to delve back into mine, but I'm thinking it's operation is set by the mirror selector switch on the left C7 dashboard.

I basically gave up trying to get my Mercedes Benz sedan's right rear view mirror to function properly regards back up aim and subsequent re-aiming itself to drive. However, it's operating or not is done by the L/R rear mirror selector switch control on the driver's door.

I had a similar problem trying to get the auto tilt reverse mirrors to work right. I did a thread and got a lot of responses. Just did a search to refresh my self on what I ended up doing. First make sure your using the same fob when setting mirrors and make sure other fob is not in range were it could be picked up. This was one of the suggestions I got and in my case did solve problem. I eventually gave up on using reverse mirror feature and went to reset factory settings and reset factory setting. Which made my mirrors work the way I had them set to work with each fob before I started messing around with reverse mirror feature. Reset of factory settings did not mess up my radio, phone or any other features that I noticed. I did have to set up each fob for seat memory, steering wheel, exit. If you search reverse mirror a few post will come up mine was a page or two down. Dave

I have a 17 GS

I didn’t think the ‘16 base (1LT) had the tilt-down mirror feature.

Default From 2016 Owners manual

Not 100% sure, but you might need a 2LT or better to get this option.

See if your problem is related to what I posted (post #5) in this thread:

Took me about 2 days to realize I didn't like this feature and switch it off forever. I guess for parallel parking the auto-tilt feature is helpful but for standard maneuvers in reverse I want (and need) the mirrors in their normal position. I first saw this auto-tilt feature on some BMW and thought it was great idea, but in even day use it altered my view too much. Plus it seems like something that would just break with repeated use.

For me it is a useless feature not the view I want when in reverse.

works well for parallel parking...saves your wheels from curb rash.
