need help on body molding gap...
Hey all, still working on list of fixes for the black car.... As you can see in the pic below, there is a pretty big gap between the bottom of the door, the lower molding and the side pipes...... the molding is stock and I think I need to fill that gap. Is there a deeper molding available?
Or any other ideas other than fabbing up an extension to the stainless?

I don't know about C2s but I had Hooker headers and side exhaust on two of my C3s and on those I had to notch the rocker covers where the headers came out from under the car for them to fit. Are the original rockers still on this car? It looks to me like the rocker covers may have been left off of this car because of the same reason. I know that the rocker covers on factory side exhaust cars are different from cars without.

Gap
I’ve got the Same hooker headers on my 64. I just took the molding that was covering that opening and scribed it to fit that opening between car and headers.

68Hemi, there are rocker covers on the car now, if you look closely.... Looks like a bit of stainless, painted black, then a pyramid/triangle piece, then about another inch of stainless, painted black.
I guess I can get another piece of stainless about 2" wide, weld it on the seam, paint it black and cover up the gap, but I was wondering if anyone else had better experience yet...

64 Tux, not sure I understand as there is no molding (other than that 1/2 piece you see now and i referenced in my reply to 68hemi). Are you saying get a piece of repro stock sidepipe molding and cut that down? do you have pics?

you can buy a 5 inch molding that is a stock piece that fills that gap. But you have to cut it to fit the opening. You can buy it from a corvette parts catalog. I looked in Ecklars corvette parts catalog an they are $329 for a pair of them . But if you look for some used ones on ebay or here on the forum, you can probably buy some for little money.

The rocker molding are the same on 65 and 66. You can see them clearly in the pictures of my car in the post below to give you an idea of what you should have.

Hope you can see these?

yea, now that I look the original rockers are not on the car, just a small 1 1/'2 inch molding that is clearly too short.... Now we are on to something....

Yea it looks so. So I'm off to find longer rocker and cut them down...
I see Zip has these....https://www.zip-corvette.com/65-rocker-moldings.html So if they are wide enough I'll just cut to fit

Get 65 rocker moldings, they don't have any ribs in them where you are cutting. 63, 64 and 66 all have ribs. I would buy a used set they are cheep enough and you are hiding most of it behind your pipes.

what you have now is side molding for factory side pipes. you need stock 65 molding, and notch where needed to fit around side pipes. any year midyear molding will fit.
