Default Wheel color advice - let me know your thoughts.

I have a 2013 427 vert. Arctic white silver stripes. (Anniversary Edition) The car came with the chrome ZR1 wheels and the chrome is starting to fail as I can see the nickel starting to show through so thinking of some winter projects and would like hear some opinions.

1. Have the wheels rechromed - probably the most expensive.
2. Buy new chrome wheels - second most expensive route.
3. Having the wheels powder coated like a transparent smoke color.
4. Having them powder coated like the center caps which I believe is cyber gray metallic. Would match ground skirts.

I am up for options and peoples thoughts and any pics people might think would look good. I would post some pics of the car but I can still not post pics for some reason.

I like option #4, but you could also check the FS section for a set of factory chrome wheels. You should be able to buy a set for ~ $750.

If it were my car I’d swap them out for the cup wheels with machined face and gun metal/ cyber grey pockets. The ZR-1 wheels are just a little to busy for my taste, but the 427s with cup wheels look great.

This has always been my favorite look for the 427 Collector Edition. GORGEOUS. 😍

another option related to refinishing would be to contact Detroit wheel and tire and have them refinished in either a chrome or black chrome PVD finish...............

less expensive than replacing even with shipping...................... their website info. below

Not to big on going to GS wheel, would kinda of like to keep the wheels it came with. If I was going to change the look I think I would go to after market.

Mine isn't a 427 vert or GS, but the only choice for me is black. Mine are gloss but matte would be nice also. This is coming from an old man that is supposed to like chrome.
I realize this doesn't have anything to do with the thread. My wheels are C7 Z51 replicas. My new OEM rotors and powder coated calipers really stand out with black wheels.

Edit; It's not white either.

427 vert is the class of the C6 field...definitely don't do all black. The above 427 wheels are awesome but something with a contrast like machined faces would look great as well.

You could if you like the chrome look of your wheels send them out and have them stripped and redone in PVD Chrome like I did. Granted I wash my car and wheels every 2 drives as well as twice a year pull them off to give them a better cleaning.

OEM

PVD Chrome and inside the barrel

I will admit I love the black wheels and I went as far to plastidip the one side of the car, it just appears with the ZR1 wheels it looks like too much as the wheel has several spokes.

Click on the little icon to the left of the smiley face. Click browse your device, select a pic.and click upload. It takes a few seconds for the picture to appear.
