Rebuilding/Re-lubing Generator TAch Drive
I had to replace the plastic gear in the generator driven 'tach drive' assembly and I am unsure what the best lubricant for the gears is... wheel bearing? white lithium? or ?? I couldn't find anything in the ST-12....

Looking in a 60+ year old document for lubricant advice is a non-starter - modern lubes are light years beyond what those old materials could do. Dupont Krylox is good but pricey.....at one point I just used marine-grade wheel bearing grease.
The only thing I use white lithium on is door hinges - that stuff turns to clay and gets cavities in it over the years...
Others may have better ideans...

Tach Drive Lube
I took my tach drive apart and found all the grease coating the side walls of the housing not the gears. Now I use 00 gear box lube that is available at farm or outdoor power equipment outlets. It does not creep up the cable.
