replacement vacuum tank
Did someone use something else that stock vacuum tank to replac it?
I stumbled upon this:
https://www.holley.com/products/igni...nts/parts/3701
Can something like this be used instead of the original?

I don't see why you couldn't use it as a replacement. Depending on where you plan on mounting it, you can also buy them with a Vac gauge.
I have often wondered if it could be mounted out of the way, such as where a former vapor canister was located on some C3s. Might be the same size diameter. IDK
Supposedly, this unit should hold enough vacuum to operate the headlights with the engine off, run your brake booster, etc. But again, IDK.

I don't think it has anything to do with the brakes. you COULD use any can you can fit. you wanna put a Freon tank on the front seat, it would work. so it is all about the aesthetics. can you locate that tank where the existing one lives? and would it look ok? it looks superior to the aftermarket ones that look like #10 cans and collapse under vacuum.

You shouldn't have any issue with this tank... you'll just have to add another T to the tank so you can supply both headlamp and wiper main vacuum. Just T off like the vacuum schematic that's listed on my tech site and you'll be fine.

As shown in this picture the brake booster connection to the intake is not even connected to the headlight vacuum source, the vacuum lines with the white filter then the check valve I'm talking about. The booster is separate.

On my '77 everything except advance is run off one port off the back of the carb. For now anyway. Changes to be made.

but the headlight system is teed off with a one-way valve. otherwise the vacuum would run out as soon as you shut off the engine.
