What can I sell my ZR1 wheels for?
Hi all,
My Z06 came with chrome ZR1 wheels that I'm not too fond of. I'm considering selling them and going with an aftermarket setup or black C7Z wheels and I'm wondering how much I could get for them?
They have MPSS (run flat) tires on them that are in very good condition.

The chromed C6 ZR1 wheels were not my favorite either, but to me, black wheels look you don't know how to clean your wheels. I had a set of brand new ZR1 machined cup wheels and Michelin RF's that were not easy to sell, in large part because they are not easy to ship. I guess they were probably easy to sell, but more difficult to sell for the amount of money that I was looking to get out of them (relatively to what I had in them.) Look at Ebay and Craig's List auctions for comparable tires. Shipnex.com was the best place to go if you did decide to ship a set of tires; they've always used FedEx when I've used them but I suppose they probably look at multiple shippers depending upon where you live.

I would think a grand if they are in good shape (no rash, etc.).
As for the C7Z wheels...I was looking to do that as well, until I found out the OE C7Z wheels have a ton of cracking and bending issues. Just search through the C7Z forum for dozens of threads on this. Here's one such thread... https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-wheels-2.html
As forum member Unreal stated in a thread...it's the C7Z equivalent to the valve drop issue.

Are they OE ZR1 wheels? Reproduction? That’s going to matter. I personally think the ZR1 wheels are probably the best looking factory wheel a car has come with. Definitely best corvette factory wheel hands down. I just wish they weren’t 19/20. I’d have a set if they weren’t. The C7z wheels aren’t holding up well, lots of stuff on the web about it and I have a few buddies with C7z’s and they’ve said the same thing. Post those bad boys up and see what happens, I think you’ll be surprised how fast they go.

I'm going to keep mine for winter driving, and run 19" wheels with a more aggressive tire in the warmer months. It's too bad there aren't more options for the 20" ZR1 rears.

if you want them, pay more

Wow I didn’t think your $700-800 suggestion was with tires😂 the reproduction wheels are $1000-$1200 that’s just the wheels. Where are you buying tires for under $800 for a set? I’m sure we’d all love that link.

hoe much ate you paying for mounting and balancing tires? I had my factory wheels powder coated so the tires had to be mounted and balanced when out back on, I kept my fronts and had NTO5R’s put on the rear, wheels powder coated and mounted and balanced was $700

Ok so $120 for mount and balance 4 tires. How cheap are you getting tires for? Since you say even a slightly used tire is worthless because of mounting and balancing that means you’re getting tires for not much more than $30-$35 each?? A decent tire is $350-$500 depending on type and use, pilot super sports, R888(R)’s or in my case NTO5R’s ($400ea) I’m a bit confused how $30-$35 has any significant cost factor to a vette owner, now if you have a line on good rubber for under $100 please drop that link!

we can just disagree that used tires have any resale value

Some of these prices are killing me lol. Most of the numbers i'm hearing are floating right around the same price as reproductions.
The classic line you'll always hear are "as much as someone is willing to pay", and that couldn't be truer with these rims. If they are pristine, you could grab $1500 or so IF the right person wants them bad enough. If you're wanting to dump quickly and not sit on them for awhile, $1K won't hold them for long.
GM didn't help the value by offering them on any Vette for a cost, as opposed to leaving them exclusively for the ZR1. Then again, that's the typical GM cash grab for ya. If it sells, their in the business.

I agree, stock C6 ZR1 wheels are the best looking factory wheel, better than the Cup wheels pattern-wise.
I also agree to avoid the C7 wheels like the plague.
Finally, due to the challenges mounting 19 and 20 inch run-flats, I haven't found any competent tire installers for less than 50 dollars a wheel. 200 bucks is the going rate to come out the other side with a damage-free, expeditious mounting experience.
P.s. I would never own a chrome wheel (heavy, doesn't appeal to me), but there are plenty of guys and gals out there that enjoy them.
