[C2] Harmonic balanceren rebuild.

Harmonic balanceren rebuild.
Hello,
So this is my first post on this forum. English is not my native language so I'm sorry any mistakes.
I would like to rebuild the harmonic balancer on my c2. (We don't have a rebuild service in Europe)
Since the specific balancer is out of stock for almost 6 months I've decided to rebuild the old one. I can't find a thread on this forum on how to rebuild a balancer. What I have found up to now:
Compres the two halves with 8000 lbs of force.
Chisel the rivets with a air chisel.
Does anyone have suggestions how to do it?
Al help would be great!
With kind regards, martin

Yeah that is an option i'm thinking about. But since I already have a rebuild kit I would like to give it a try. (I ordered the kit before I knew there was a rebuild service)

This seems like a job if you never done it before you can do more harm then good. Did the rebuild kit come with instructions? Is this a one size fit all or is it just for your application?

It is specifically for this type of balancer. The balancer isn't build anymore apparently. Since I already have the rebuild kit I would like to try it myself if someone could confirm that it's a easy fix.

Unless you are concerned about NCRS points I would just put a fluid damper on the car.

Educate me. Did the C2 engines have a riveted harmonic balancer? I thought the riveted balancers were used up until 1961 then went to the outer weight ring with rubber between the hub and the ring. Just curious.

I stand (or right now sit) corrected.
Sounds like the OP needs a press (at least 4 ton) and a rivet gun or heavy air chisel to do the job. Those steel rivets are tough.

Don't even THINK about doing it at home - this is NOT a do-it-yourself job. Send it to Damper Dudes or the Damper Doctor for a proper rebuild (both are in Redding, California).

If you have a marine repair place close by, check with them for repair. Outboard and Inboard/outboard propellers use a process similar to bond the propeller to the hub of the prop.
