Default Any newer car even close to the characteristics of a C4?

By characteristics I mean, some sports cars have the wrap around feel, but none I've been in are even close to the jet fighter seat angle of a C4.

Also, is there any other car that has similar low end V8 torque? Even my C5, and the C6's I've tested don't feel as good.

I do like the way my LT4 feels.

But our '17 2SS Camaro will outrun my '96 LT4 all day long.
Both cars 100% stock.

That 455 HP LT1 engine in the Camao is very strong!

The "seats" are what sold me on a C4 nearly 20yrs ago.

It's our TPI long runners that give the strong low end torque...and I love it at the traffic signals...

A good friend bought a new '84 when they first came out. He let me take it for a drive, and I couldn't believe how well those seats fit me! It was as if they had built the car just for me!

Maybe a cobra kit car. Maybe a newer viper.

This, I agree.
I test drove me C5, and C6(and came this close buying C6 too...) before settling for my 95.
they were both much faster then C4 in term of time. But somehow both C5/6 felt much more civilized, and sophisticated.
but when you mash the accelerator of C4 to the floor, you get this nose suddenly points up, squats the rear, starts this brutal acceleration with tire chirping, fighting to gain traction. With all the vibration and noise as if it’s just gonna take straight off in to the air

i don’t know how to explain it right. I think if it like swing of surgical scalpel compared to swing of broad swords...

Even with the c4 run the cars feel different. My 96 auto feels smooth and civilized, something to go cruising in. My 89 6speed is like a hooligan, ready to race and carve corners like no ones business. It rides rougher than the other one, but corners flatter.

Its were old and new school meet. The best of the old technology modernized as much as possible. There isn't much keeping you from killing yourself it's just a raw unadulterated sports car that was targeting performance above all else. The C5 targeted the ability to carry golf clubs. As time goes on the goal is to remove you from the seat anyway. The more disconnected you become the easier it is. Just my opinion anyway.

Every body style/generation of Corvette has a unique and distinctive feel of it's own. That is why with each new generation it seems to make the past generation and instant classic. The C4 is one of the most distinctive generations, like it has been stated it took Corvette to a whole new level of performance especially handling and electronics.

The body style was very fresh in it's day, though obviously a complete departure from corvette past history. The "cockpit" feel to this day is unique and exciting every time you take the car for a drive. I always wondered if they engineered in to the Gatorback tires the sound and stiffness to enhance the feel of being one with the car.

To answer the question: No, no other Corvette model has the feel or look of a C4. That is what makes it special and fun to drive. Just to be fair, comparing a 84 to a 96 there is so many improvements, they are completely different cars...

The 6th gen Camaro is a much better car vs the 5th gen Camaro..Both are very nice cars tho. That being said, I outrun the 5th gen Camaro in my LT4 all day long.

The dodge viper was the closest thing left to the rawness of a c4.

the newer corvette is designed around golf bags, ride comfort, interior room, easy ingress/egress for aging overweight customers....

I love how comfortable my C4's seats are. I agree about the low end torque of the L98/sbc, my 500hp LS3 car is very fast once it gets in its powerband but it feels weaker in the low and mid range rpm and driving around town.

I would venture to say the third gen f-body's with the 350TPI probably have the same low end torque since they have the same motor. IMHO they are very nice cars also, and prices are still fairly low so they can be bought on a budget to.

No questions asked there, a base 84s ride is probably on par with a 96 z51. On top of engine tech, drive line and interior there are probably 3 distinct iterations of the C4. The early ones through 88. 89-91 tpi cars and then the 92 to end of production ones all saw various design changes between those ranges.

Weren't they able to get the door sill a little lower on the later c4s?

In terms of that jet fighter wrap around feel when you sit it in, I think the C7 Stingrays have a very similar feel that was lost on the C5's and C6's. You don't have the high rail that you have in the C4's but once your in I love the tight feel. In fact when it first came out I noticed the design of the dash wrapping around the side of the console was very reminiscent of the 90-93 design.

I concur. My 15 2SS is all torque and sometimes I wonder which one is more of a pain to get in and out of.

I would hope that a car with a 25 year advantage in technology would be faster.
