gas tank with sender removal
Hi all and Happy Thanksgiving.
In a 64 with side exhaust and no spare tire carrier, can the tank be removed (and installed) leaving the sender in place. Is there enough room to not damage the "fuel tube" sticking out. Does the tank support member have to come out.
Thanks ,
Frank

The tank should come out with no problem; sender in or out....

It's a lot easier to take the support out, it's only four bolts.

One thing I would recommend is to remove as much gas from the tank as possible. When removing the tank in my '73 (similar arrangement), I discovered that the tank support and felt paper were masking some significant holes in the tank and I received an uncomfortable bath from a cup or two of gas I hadn't completely removed from the tank.
