Default Getting baseline dyno numbers on a stock automatic c7 z06

I searched and found some data on stock z06 auto numbers and they are anywhere from 520-560whp on a Dynojet. Tomorrow it is time to get some baseline numbers before the upgrades. What do you think a stock automatic z06 should show using a Dynojet style dyno? I will post the results here.

Results on a Mustang Dyno:
529/573 SAE

Mine was 529/585.

It did have a Mamo ported T/B and Borla X pipe at the time.

91 oct. pump gas.

Dynojet 224X.

I would think somewhere in the 540-560 rwhp range with an A8.

I had an intake when I did my baseline and blended 91 oct up to 95 with Torco (run it every tank now). Not stock but for comparison sake, my dynojet numbers were 575whp and 635wtq with that setup.

Curious, what boost did you guys see on the dyno with your stock/baseline runs? I was getting 8.64 max with the above setup (12lbs now) but that's also over 6K' up....

What gear is everyone using. There are times where dyno operators wont use 6th due to excessive dyno speed.

What is everyone figuring for drivetrain loss? I keep hearing 12% for manual and 15% for autos. My '19 M7 with Mamo PTB and BMS filter running on 93 put out 589 h/p and 587 torque on the Dynojet. Is the correct way to calculate using 12% as an example - 589 X 1.12 or 589 / .88?

I've also heard !5%-16% for cars with automatic transmissions.

Curious to see what my 2019 automatic 8 ZO6 will put down. Can’t really picture a stock Z putting down anything less than 535-540whp on a A8. I’d be a little disappointed honestly

Simply too many variables to say what the baseline "should" be.

In a perfect world everyone would baseline on the same dyno with the same air quality.

I see this all the time in the motorcycle world. Guys get too hung up on a "number" and are disappointed when

the outcome is less than expected.

Then the tendency is to start throwing expensive parts at it to bump the "number" up to an acceptable level.

In the mean time your wallet is drained dry.

Been there myself more than once.

I agree. So many owners get caught up on dyno racing. "I want to hit x number of horsepower on the dyno". Who cares. I've seen 1000 hp cars run 16s at the track. What matters is how the car performs in the real world. MPH in the quarter is a good indicator of hp.

As 383vett has mentioned, take the car to a drag strip and make a few passes to get a MPH figure.

The variable there is also air quality.

A ballpark number should be 128 MPH IMHO.

Mine runs 129-132 with that 529 HP number.

The correct way is 589 divided by .88 for an M7.

Sorry for the delay.
I ended up taking to a shop with a mustang dyno and got 529whp 573torque on 91 pump gas with SAE correction. It was running super rich ~10.5.
Now I need to get some 1/4 runs in while it is still stock.

What gains do you think I will see after adding and tuning with:

Halltech air intake
meth injection
2.3 griptech pulley/hub
borla xpipe(60547)

Thanks!

This is so true. For any of us that have been dyno testing for some time we already or should know it. Mustang dynos generally read lower than dynojets as well as Superflows. My 2016 Z07 auto baselined at mid 140's on a dynojet using STD which gives higher readings than SAE. I remember dyno testing my Kawasaki ZX-12 here in Louisville on a dynojet and getting 198 RWHP in preparation for a HP shootout in Daytona. They were using a new Superflow dyno at the shootout and the bike made 189 RWHP. If you want accurate numbers use a qualified & experienced dyno operator who regularly checks & if necessary calibrates his dyno instrumentation for temp, humidity, baro pressure, A/F ratio and use the same dyno & operator each time.

Just added Halltech CAI, Borla X pipe, and upper pulley tune. 599 rwhp, 637 torque.. very happy with those numbers. Have been running 10.8 consistently before mods. Hoping for 10.6 ish now..
