Well some detail would be nice. Who, what, when, and where? Maybe proper grammar too.

You've got to know what to expect from the seller, if the trans doesn't measure up to the expectations and terms of the sale, if any.

You do not say WHAT manual trans, WHAT version of slush-box. Whether it's a Doug Nash 5 speed.

You just threw a dud hand grenade....next time pull the pin.

It might not be about the trans but where or who is selling it is a very big piece of your puzzle,
So actually mike did help you considering the way you posted,

If you can't give us basic info on your situation: who is doing the work? what transmission you have? what transmission you are getting? and why are you doing this?

we can't give you a decent response. We are not a "personal information service". If you want HELP, tell us your situation and let us respond. Otherwise, we can't help you.

OP has a thread in the Tech forum about buying a transmission for $1000 and in this thread apparently wants to know how not to get scammed. Or to protect his payment. Really no way and it is best if he finds a transmission local to him so he can check it out. He should have provided more information since some members only read one forum and not all. Think he understands by posts here that he would really have to trust the seller.

I guess the safest way other than a face to face transaction would be PayPal if he will take it and you cover his commission fees. Other than that would be a bank wire transfer although that is more to protect him than you. Outside of that, these things are mostly buyer beware.

meh folks he isn't looking for prices just genral information on who and where to get it form, try a reputable vendor such as Wilcox, ecklers, etc. even if its reman stuff they are reliable and tend to bend over backwards if you have problems with the product.

You know there is a somewhat overlooked section on this forum that is "feedback" there you can see which vendors do bend over backwards and which just blow the customer off if a problem pops up...very valuble info there

We don't need his name. Is it a business? Or is it an individual? with an individual your best bet is to get him to make you an eBay auction with a buy it now price and Paypal payment. He can set it up so that only one buyer is eligible to bid on it or click buy it now. Yes eBay gets fees and PayPal gets fees but there's people between you and him that are acting as middle man to make sure the transaction goes off correctly. If you Western Union or Walmart or PayPal somebody money out of the blue there is nothing in the world stopping them from folding that money up and putting it in their pocket and not bothering to stick what you bought from them in the box and shipping it to you.
