Default 96 Black LT1 35,900. Central Texas area

Very very clean, posting online to sale for my uncle. Brand new tires/AC system and all new fluids. 35,xxx miles. He’s got $14,xxx in it. He would like to break even of course to buy something else, I’m unsure on pricing corvettes and help/advice or offers would be appreciated.

Located about an hour south of Dallas Tx.
$14,000 OBO

You will be having a discussion with a moderator very soon. Members are only allowed to list vehicles they personally own without advance approval from a moderator. You must also state a selling price.

no problem, I’m a new member here, coming over from the camaro forums. Uncle doesn’t use computers/internet so I thought this would be a great place to post it.

Yeah, selling for yourself and selling for someone else are two different things. As the poster you have to be able to assist with any seller/buyer issues.

I haven't been on camaro5 for a while - enjoyed my stay over there. Though I'm not sure if that's the forum you're talking about. Aging - so now I'm on corvette & F150 forums...

Default Value

What is a good/fair value in your opinions on this car, I’m not a Vette expert at all, but would like to learn.

Thanks for the input, glad to know he’s not as far off as $7,500 in value. A little more detailed in cleaning could take it to a new level!

IMO, 7.5 is a little low while 14 grand is a little high.
Somewhere in between sounds about right
When my '96 vert was smashed up (in Dallas, no less!)
Insurance gave me $10,500 for it three years ago.

IMO ballpark pricing for a LT C4 w/:
Around 120000 miles and needs tires. $5000
low mileage/tuned $12000+
add for 6 speeds, and nice verts (biased) IMO, also add a little for some desirable RPO's like the z07 springs
Winter is usually a crummy time to sell vettes so subtract a little for winter sales

im really not sure what you’re saying here. It has new tires and I’m thinking you meant $12,000 in the place of 120000? I get the winter aspect, but I’m just not super clear on what you’re saying as in the car and or comparing to other variations?

Looks like a good car.
I would think a shot of the RPO label would help.
10 - 12K would not be out of the question.
I am in the mid-Atlantic area and C4s are a little down here but most aren't as good as yours.
Good Luck

I read it as just a general valuation opinion on '96 vettes in various states of condition/mileage, not on the specific car being sold in this post.

Ohh. I got you read it much clearer afterwards with that thought. Thanks

I can get the RPO to post as well, thanks.

Of course they can ask for it, but most potential buyers want to see more of the interior, seats, rear hatch area, seals etc.

IMO for a pristine '96 Coupe Auto $11K would be pretty much full retail for the car. If I were looking to buy I would want to know the date of manufacture of the tires, has any weather stripping been replaced? if not, what is the condition? has the water pump and/or opti-spark been replaced? The more documentation you can provide that the car shouldn't need any expensive maintenance/repairs in the near future the more likely you are to get close to your asking price. Unfortunately the C4 market is not strong enough to support paying for expensive maintenance/repairs and expecting to break even. For faster sale, I would imagine you would need to drop the price to the $8K-$9K range. Also, Corvettes are often impulse buys so if the car shows well take it out to cruise nights, car shows, swap meets or wherever it can be seen. C4s are a whole lot of fun for around $10K and you might just find someone to take it off yours hands. GLWS!
