Default 68 hood release cable broke

The release cable broke, I have the ‘handle’ and a bit of wire. How do I open the hood and who has the release cable kit for sale? Thanks!

well I think you will need to get a long wire like a coat hanger ,and bend one end on it like a hook and reach up under the hood grab ahold of the cable that goes from corner to corner and pull down ,that should pop the hood open ,your cable that goes from corner to corner I think is only a one year for 68,the big vendors has it for around $60,if you need the handle to open the hood I have one you can have for $20,hope this helps you

if you take your driver side metal splash guard off under your fender you can run your arm all the way up to the latch and unlock hood...ther is also a way to remove your wiper grille and remove a firewall plug to get to latch on driver side...it was on the forum somewhere..don't remember how that worked...I got to mine from removing splash guard..hop that helps

Unscrew and pull the grill off first, then insert a screwdriver down into the triangle as seen in my pic. Hold it up some so the tip tilts down for the tab location.

This doesn’t look like will work. And what grill? Very front! That’s a long way to the tabs to open! 1968 vette.

The grill in front of the wiper door at the edge of the hood.

you can also do it from the driver side gills with a 24" or so rod/dowel. you'll need a bright light to see the tab you need to push on and it's easiest to use the gill as a pivot point (a little scary if you push too hard) I did it successfully many times while adjusting latches. One of the pictures shows the tab, next to latch hole, you push towards the front of the car.

This picture shows the tab. The screwdriver method will work, the v notch is pointed right at the tab. You need to remove the grill over wiper area to use the v notch
