C5 Z06 custom rear mount twin turbo build
Ok guys, i have finally decided what to do next on my car. Its current mods are :
-MS4 cam/dual valves springs with TI retainers
-CHE trunnion upgrade / Manton 3 piece pushrods
-ARH 1 7/8 catless long tube headders
-Meiling high pressure oil pump
-Romac 25% underdrive crank pulley
-Halltech killer bee 2 intake
-Mantic 9000 twin disc clutch
Car made 470/400 to the tire. It drives well but has a few surging issues when AC is on. Other than that its a blast to drive and my beat time has been 12 seconds flat at 120 MPH with a 2.2 60 foot...
Im looking at building a "budget" twin turbo build. I will be doing all the fab work and piecing together the parts.
Part of the "budget" is to use my ARH exhaust and build from there. Im also going to keep the MS4 cam and see what happens.
I have the opportunity to buy a TTiX kit from a C6 Z06. The vendor has the dual ball bearing upgrade on PT6865's.
The intercooler is also in good condition. Im probably going to have to modify the outlet so its facing towards the motor.
My question are:
-are those turbos too big? I'm looking for 600hp for now(street car)
-can i get away with stock fuel system with bigger injectors and a BAP?
-what's a good scavenger pump that's not too noisy that will work well?
Any other input will help
Thanks

Sooooo, you’re paying near 11k for a rear mount TT kit ? Then you’re fabing, installing, and buying the rest of the required pieces ?
I used a turbowerx scavenge pump in my rear mount build. Worked well for me. They generally run about $250.

Georgies have you thought about building your own custom single rear?
LIKE THESE BUILDS.
Dans 5.3 800rwhp build
Michael's ls3 single rear Borg turbo 800rwhp
both of those guys are great and have knowledge to share
Think about it. Start from scratch, no used headaches

You may spend more money out of the gate doing things the correct way with the correct parts but in the end you'll end up saving money and time not having to redo things two and three times down the road.

After looking over your initial post I'll tell you this....
For what you're looking for, forget about going turbo...let alone a rear mounted twin setup. There's so much involved to a setup like this and for what you want its just not needed both time and money expenditure. You're going to try do "do it on the cheep" which you'll absolutely regret and its going to leave a sour taste in your mouth.
Instead, spend the money on an centrifugal blower setup. Don't get the procharger brackets because frankly they suck. Call A&A and get one of their kits, or maybe poke around in the parts category and see if someone is selling their kit used. Swap out the fuel pump to a Aeromotive 340 or a 255 and a BAP and you'll but much much happier.
I'm sure that's not what you want to hear, but there it is anyway.

Its cool man i understand where your coming from. I asked how to check turbos and wastegates, but no one can answer me. I guess im too lazy to do the research my self and was hoping to get an answer on here.
Im not interested in slapping on parts. I want to build something that requires fabrication so i can hone my skills.

Yes reason is, I called up ttix they said it wont fit without cutting the headers, getting an ls7 oil pan, and redoing all the cold side.
I prefere leaving the engine bay looking stock, and everyone that is running a rear mount setup has no complaints about IAT's or doing regular maintenance like water pump etc.. (the later applies more to a single front mount.)

No one can answer that question for you man. I know you want reassurance from all of us that taking the cheaper route will be better but that's not our call, only you can decide what the possible risk is worth to you. Also, without us inspecting the parts first hand we are just guessing and telling you what you want to hear or maybe need to hear. I can tell you this though.....DO IT RIGHT, DO IT ONCE.

Do your research on routing the twin pipes through the rockers, I've read countlss threads about how hard it can be to get the charge pipes through the rockers few was easy few could not period. Some cars have more obstruction as in glue/adhesive in the rockers. I have a very large Lloyd's trunk mat that most people will not know I cut the trunk out.
USED PARTS.. only used parts I'm going with are the turbowerx pump from JunkC5 I trust him and a used precision wastegate, have all the parts, box, papers and I trust the guy as well. I did buy a Vs racing turbo from Viren. China turbo. Prob never buy a name brand turbo. China turbo quality is up there nowadays. Seen issues with name brands then you rebuild.
good luck
Jason from San Antonio

Seems like way more work and time when you can throw a blower on the car and hit the power goal with ease. My 04Z its a Novi 2000, with only headers and meth is at 600 to the wheels at 6psi.. Installed it 11 years ago, never a single issue, and just finally changed the original belt.
