Default Borla X-pipe

Were the Borla X-pipes always over $400? And who has them at the best price? I know Borla stopped making them as well. Thanks

I think i got mine for like 330 shipped last spring, well 2 springs ago, in 2017.

They're becoming popular so it makes sense the price is going up.

Corsa sounds better, and if you do a quick search, you'll find a vendor here that have a very similar xpipe for 399 shipped new!!

I saw something that the Borla x-pipe was discontinued... that might have brought the price up

I've heard both side by side. Corsa sounds better, Sounds sharper, more rasp, less UPS truck. (my opinion! )

The Borla is lighter and makes more power. I think the consensus is the Corsa sounds better though.
There’s a great video (search “x pipe comparison Z06” on YouTube) where a shop ran a set of dyno test with both pipes, as well as a titanium x-pipe and then the titanium with an Akrapovic. The Borla made 22/13 over stock.

I've posted this several times, most recently in the C7 General section but I think this is what you're referring to.

LHT Performance made a one off custom X out of titanium for the heck of it for their 2017 M7 Z06. It was kind of a cross between the Corsa X (sound wise) & Borla X (where the pipes actually cross/X together) but of course it was very light weight being built out of titanium. I wish someone would produce more light weight components like this.

  • Stock X = 25.10 lbs.
  • Borla X = 18.3 lbs.
  • Corsa X = 22.0 lbs.
  • Titanium X = 7.13 lbs. (listed as 8.2 lbs. in 2nd video)
I've posted these before in the Z06 section but in case anyone is interested & hasn't seen them LHT made a a couple of videos (Jan. & Feb. 2018) about their titanium X-pipe build & testing. The dyno runs of their Z06 compare the car bone stock vs. Borla-X vs. Corsa-X vs. their titanium-X vs. titanium-X + Akrapovic (he butcher's the pronunciation) exhaust system. The dyno runs were back to back.

  • Stock car: 578.3 hp/602.4 lb-ft.
  • Borla X-pipe: 600.1 hp/615.6 lb-ft.
  • Corsa X-pipe: 595.2 hp/616.5 lb-ft.
  • Titanium X-pipe: 605.9 hp/611.3 lb-ft.
  • Titanium X & Akrapovic exhaust: 620.9 hp/609.3 lb.-ft.

I have a video that shows the comparison between stock and Borla X-pipe. Starts at 4:54.

The difference is subtle at idle but at WOT it's a good bit louder.

Bottom line is they are all within 10 hp, tq is almost identical and the weight is also very close, so really it comes down to sound preference and cost. When you are in the 600hp range 10hp one way or the other is not going to make a difference on the street.

corsa makes our cars sound exotic, like amg or Aston Martin like. Our cars aren't that type..

it should sound like what the ls engines sound like imo. And even if you do long tubes and a borla it doesn't really get there but it's close.

I like borla because it got me closer to what my c6 sounded like with long tubes and full exhaust. I didnt want my car to sound exotic.

because it's not an exotic.

Don't overlook the fact that they will never be made again. If you can find stock and are not in California you can buy one. But there are no more being manufactured.

I bought a new one before they are all gone. Sitting at home waiting to go on the car. I have the Borla.

Agreed. Instead of trying to turn a Vette into a poor imitation of an exotic they should just go buy a real exotic if that's what they want. I think V8 American sports cars and muscle cars should sound like what they are.
