Tire sticker redlines
Wanted some redline radials for my 69, but with the Canadian exchange rate, I was looking at about $400.00 a tire by the time I got them up here. So I bought a set of BFG 225 70 15s up here, for $800.00 mounted balanced including tax, and ordered up the redline kit from Tire stickers, for around $140.00. Applied the first one last night, it's too easy just wipe with acetone and apply the stripe with the glue they give you, took me about 20 minutes.

this is kind of cool. I would like to know how permanent they really are. I will be needing some new tires on my chevelle soon and it would look good with redlines

They make a version that is removable, but the permanent ones that I got are supposed to last the life of the tire, and I believe it

Never tried it, but masking and spraying the whitewall with red vinyl dye (after cleaning stripe well and wiping down with lacquer thinner) ought to do the job well for very little money. Is there a 15" tire out there which comes with a really thin whitewall (1/4-5/16")? Most 'thin' whitewalls are 1/2" wide...or more. Back in the day, those red/blue/gold stripes were not that wide.
The glue-on stripes look better than I thought they would; hope they last the life of the tires.

WOW what go's around comes around. Back in the 50'S people that couldn't afford white walls bought portawalls that were round white rubber pieces that fit under the rim & flat on the tire to make it look like a white wall..

Yep! And they were about 99 cents, each!! They were pretty lame, but better than shelling out for new tires Back then, some cheapo new whitewall tires might set you back about $50....for the set.
