Default I'm seriously considering this Z06

I haven't talked to them yet, would be trading my 370Z. Looks like an unmolested one owner. Maybe still a little high on their ask......they have reduced it $1000 from the first listing. Hmmmmmm. Less than two hours away, maybe I'll ride down there next week.

What sayeth the Z06 experts? I really need another Vette

Good looking car. But the VIN (...45117573)appears to fall within the range of 2004 cars that were subject to a fuel line failure (45110258 to 45125500. Not a problem if it was already repaired by the previous owner(s) or by GM. Otherwise, if it does fail now (some say it is not if but when), it will cost approximately $2500 + to repair. Something to consider in negotiations.

I know about the valve issues but not this fuel line issue. Thanks for the info, I will look into it.

Looks like a nice car, dont like the C4 wheels or the Sony single din radio. Would have liked to see the stock radio and Factory C5 Z06 wheels. If you want this car, and there is a lot to like with it.. I would go down there with the idea to buy, Have a number in mind and stick to it.. December is a great month to buy any car ( end of the years bonus for salesmen ) Tell them you are ready to buy this car today. You are 2 hours away and are not going to comeback, but we can do this deal today for ( $$$ you add the number ) Stick to that number.. I'm thinking 22K right now, less your trade if you are trading. ring your title as proof of you willing ness to buy.
My Opinion as requested.
Bill

I would be a little disappointed to buy a Z06 with less than 13k miles and not get the original wheels. Other than that its a good looking car!

25k seems a little high to me. Price needs to come down about 2-3k. In my opinion.

It is a low mileage car, but I tend to agree that it is priced somewhat high in price. Offer them $2500 less and see where it goes.

I certainly know how to play that game. Those are the exact numbers I am thinking. 22K for their car less 15K for my 370Z. I have walked on more deals than I have closed. Mrs. Shark says I just like to haggle. Plus the potential fuel line issue

Yes, the original wheels would be nice to have but I could certainly live with what;s on it.

3K for me to take it home.

Offer 20K ..deal up as actual value is 21-22 without oem wheels...

I would have to be in LOVE with it at any other price point at this age...(tires being a big consideration...)

With 13K on the clock, definitely in the right price range.

+Looks like a nice car overall, the Cray wheels could be easily traded for OEM, looks like aftermarket exhaust too, possibly Corsas. Shifter looks like it may have been changed, another bonus if it has.

I agree with the other posts about the wheels and radio. Also paying a dealer fee on a used car is unnecessary. Tell them you have a customer fee for them to pay you. When and if you make an offer do it as an "out the door" price.

All the theories about end of the year prices and bonuses etc. are pure B.S. Used car prices are set simply by the law of supply and demand. What convinces a dealer to take less for a vehicle is the age in inventory of the unit, whether he is tired of waiting to sell, or whether the vehicle can be bought for less from other sources. Since there are a number of folks who purport to know it is worth $2-3,000, or more, less than what the dealer is asking, simply show the dealer all those comparable units with the same mileage for sale for less. I have to guess those who know it is overpriced can give you several examples.

I got "out the door" at CarMax for $25k in March 2012 with 24,000 miles on a bone stock z06 with OEM wheels and a 6-yr 120,000-mile bumper to bumper warranty. I'd start at $20 and settle for $21.5 if I was in love with that car. It's December, and in three weeks, that car will be another year "old"er. Put the sales person on fine grind.

Valve spring issues were on 2002-2003 Z06's (LS6 engines).....They changed to different (new p/n) valve springs in 2004.
I'm not fond of those wheels (personal choice) but that can be easily changed.
Check for the infamous harmonic balancer wobble issue at idle. The adhesive dries out and fails on many cars. (Some say that on C5 & C6's, it's not "if" but "when")...I replaced mine with an ATI unit a couple of years ago as a preventative measure.
Check to see if the "leaky butt" has been an issue....Crawl underneath the rear of the car and look up at the driver side differential at the axle....with a flashlight, look at the differential case and body area area above this joint and check if you see any oily residue...They did switch (I believe) to a re-designed o-ring seal to fix the problem.....Mine had it and I replaced lit long ago.....No issues with it since.
Good luck with your decision.

Definitely confirm the fuel line failure. If that has not been corrected, I would make that part of the negotiating. I would likely start the offer at $20k and go from there .. up to $22k or whatever you are comfortable with, but have them kick in something to get there. Maybe an extended warranty at no cost to you or a reduction in price, for the warranty. If you have your trade there, title in hand and cash to go with the trade, a motivated seller will not want you to walk out the door.

Your best option would be to sell your car and go in all cash for them, with a trade in they always try to tilt everything their way. That is why you will end up walking so much, which is OK, nothing wrong with that.

Good luck

I've done it both ways. Sometimes the sales tax savings makes up for the hassle of selling it yourself. Still leave some money on the table but it's quicker. Be hard to sell my 370Z this time of year......of course they look at it that way, too. I don't know, gonna at least call them tomorrow.
