Default bought 64, fuelie car??

Folks, probably a dumb question, just bought a 64, engine changed, it has the knock off wheels, and on the side 'fuel injection' , last owner not sure if it came that
way from factory, so what do I look for to confirm? tach ?? diff? or maybe the firewall or rad support, Thanks Mike.

Well, a start would be the tach. Fuelie would have the redline in about the 5PM position (6500 rpm). If the redline is about 2 o'clock, the car was not a fuelie (or the tach has been changed out). Post a few pics and we can tell you a lot more. Plus we love pics and 64's are quite popular on here!

Check for the holes in the left inner fender that mount the air cleaner.

My ‘63 roadster had that too, but it turned out it was an over the counter replacement. The car was not a fuelie. I guess the support that would work for both fuelie and non fuelie was a common over the counter replacement part.

My 65 when a Small Block Car with none original motor and came with a Fulie Rad Support with the pass thru hole. It was Never a Fulei car. Some one told me that GM installed those supports when they ran out of the standard supports. Have no clue if this was the case.

I'm no NCRS expert or don't claim to know if that's true or not. But It was the original support that came with my 65.

That is my understanding as well, to wit, the radiator core support won't tell you much...

Frankly, I wouldn't lose sleep over this car being an F/I unit; as the OP can't prove it conclusively and as "value added" its a moot point with the engine missing...

Not sure but the power guild corvettes if there was such would have the core with the place for cooling lines to come thru
If there was a fulie version

Small connector in the wiring harness for the fuel solinoid near the windshield wiper motor. Also the holes in the inner fender on the drivers side.

As Frankie mentioned, there isn't any way to verify it was a fuelie originally. Everything on the car can be easily changed and changing to fuelie configuration has been a popular sport for those trying to make a few bucks, for many, many years.

Just make it into what you want to drive, enjoy it, and don't worry about provenance or profit.

Mike

As said above there is no possible way for sure of telling whether the car was a fuel injected car or a 250 HP car. In 63 and 64 the flags on the fenders where in the same position as the fuel injection cars or non FI cars, so you can’t tell by the emblems because they just drilled the holes below the flags. Only FI radiator supports where over the counter as a replacement. Driver side fender wells, all over the counter replacements at the holes drilled for the air cleaner. Tachometer is easily changed. Many cars over the years have had fuel injection emblems put on them it was the thing to do back in the day. Build it and enjoy it the way you want it. 64’s where one of the best cars built.

Nice 64 to keep and enjoy .If it goes 14 seconds or lower in the quarter ,you know its a fast Duck.
