Let's start with the obvious:
1. VIN Tag
2. Trim Tag
How many other things do you want/need?? Interior?? Exterior?? Motors?? Colors??

If it's a coupe and as correct as it should be:
No roof vents on a 66
Coupe or convertible:
Corvette Sting Ray emblem on hood on 66
Dash ***** inset are black on 66 (silver on 65)
Corvette Script on rear, glove box, and hood (for 66) are upright and don't hang over the left of the bottom bar that says "Sting Ray" like on a 65 (more slanted also)
Grill on a 66 has vertical and horizontal bars, (65 horizontal black bars)
Hubcaps are different (five slots on 66, 6 on 65)
Gas cap design pattern different
65 non a/c cars have alternator on passenger side, 66 on driver's side
396 only available on 65 of the two
427 only available on 66 of the two
fuel inj only available on 65 of the two
66 had no 250 hp engines, base for 65 was 250 hp
Different color availabilities between the two years.
Seat pattern on 65 has two large panels on bottom and back and 66 has more than two skinnier ones
Rocker panel design different
Seat belt buckles changed mid year on 66,,,,65 and early 66 had circles on buckle with bowtie emblem in it.
Most of these things can easily be changed.
Oh yeah, the 65 was the last year for twin snorkel breathers on the lower hp cars and for using Carter carbs also.

Easiest way at a glance for an unmolested 65 or 66 is whether there is a "Corvette" chrome insignia on the hood, driver's side, close to the front. 66s had it, 65s didn't.

On small block cars 66's have the alternator on the drivers side and 65's have it on the passenger side unless car has A/C. Another small difference is the inside door handles. 66's should be chrome and 65's should be interior color.
