Tire chatter
like most days its pouring down rain today here in seattle and about 43 degrees outside.... i decided enough is enough the oem pss zp tires are straight up NOT SAFE around here on wet days so after reading gobs of tire threads i went against the grain slightly and ordered a set of conti dws 06 over the AS3
Do these NON run flats completely eliminate the tire chatter on our beloved c7's?

What was ambient today? 40 degrees? Many discussions have mentioned that MPSS are not meant for 40 degrees and below in addition to rain. AS3, DWS, and other all seasons are much more appropriate.

Can't eliminate tire chatter-tires love to talk amongst each other-they constantly bad mouth the engine, shocks, always complaining about their tire pressure, especially the tires that are dressed in Armour All, and the ones with chrome wheels-real snobs....

Hmm must not have driven when 50F or below! At 40 F on a slow full lock turn as when backing out of a parking slot the GM word used in the owners manual, “hopping” is more discriptive
It’s due to the race car like construction of the OEM tires, more specifically the very low slip angles.

I have the AS3 runflats and that was the first thing I noticed pulling out of my garage, no chatter!
These tire are great BTW, I don't track my car so never got good heat in the tires and would often get wheelspin on hard street starts even in summer. With the AS3 they grip alot better on the street with alot less wheel spin at street tire temps.

I was trying to get the OP to be more descriptive with his complaint. Tire "chatter" could mean many things. He said nothing about turns, only that it was dangerous when cool and wet. Nothing dangerous about tire hopping at slow speeds, it's perfectly normal.

Lisa, did not see it was your message. Was using my phone while waiting in an office! Hate trying to punch those small letters with my fat thumbs!
Agree "chatter" can be a description of other things in addition to what GM calls "chatter" in the Owner's Manual. In fact when it 1st happened in my September 2013 built Z51 C7 I was backing out of the garage on the 1st relatively cold day, which I had done many times with my C6 and for sure thought it was the differential! In fact had the C6 diff fluid changed on warranty because it was an issue with it! My street rod was even worse when I made a slow speed sharp turn!
Both the C6 Z51 and my street rod it was the fluid friction modifier used for the positraction clutches that was the issue. But the Z51/Grand Sport does not have posi, it uses the eLSD that has it's own high pressure pump and activates clutches on either side of the dif via computer control.
However, as you know it's common when some of us get our first cold weather to feel the GM tire "chatter!" For the first C7's there was little info accept in the Owner's Manual that said basically it's normal- don't worry. With my Grand Sport there was a tag on the shifter discussing the issue further and still saying it's normal!

I know everyone says this a cold weather problem but it happens to me in toasty FL every day backing out of my driveway. The first time it happened I honestly thought I ran over something! The car "hops" and you can feel a soft clunk go thru the chassis as the wheels slip. It still catches me off guard in parking lots sometimes.

At 35F it "hops" so bad I won't tolerate it! In the summer I can make a full lock turn after backing out of the garage to go down my driveway.
When ~50F I turn less and make a "K" turn. At 35F I turn the wheel even less and make two "K" turns! Works for me!
GM says it's worse then it rains, which I have validated.

.My C7 tire hops at ALL temperatures in Texas. It's not dependent on ambient temperature.

A full lock at 35F it's much worse that 60F! That is with OEM tires. At 60F, very little "chatter" not an issue for me, at 35F it literally "hops" and I will not use even close to full lock!

I have no problem taking the extra time to make a "K" turn when it's below ~45F. I just think about those 1.2 "g" peak lateral acceleration values I hit going around the fountain at the end of my street! Not superfast BUT fun! Note grass field on the right and no house or people within >1/4 mile!
I don't feel any "chatter" at ~65 to 70 and hotter. Modest scrubbing but not the hopping at 35 and 40!
