Default Single turbo C6 build

I picked up another c6 back during the summer and finally had time to start making a new turbo setup for it. I’ve done a few before and wanted to make this one keep ac and have to mod/move as few parts I could. I did document most of the major parts of the build along the way and I’ll update this post with more build pics. I’ve got about 1500 miles on the kit so far. A lot of driving and a lot of racing. All Is good and zero issues.

Idle Clip

None. The highest coolant temp I saw during the summer with ac on was 185-190 tops. On the highway it runs 160 or so.

Made a trip to Mexico against a 2018 Zl1 that was turbo swapped.

I wish I was willing to do a fender exit exhaust. Seems like it makes putting a turbo on these cars so much simpler. Where do you have the build details posted? I'd be curious to see the process. Have you had it on a dyno to see what kind of power it makes? What size turbo?

when I bought the car the pass fender had a 6” crack at the bottom that’s the only reason I was willing to do a fender exit. Otherwise I would’ve tried to build the dp a different route. Never had it on a dyno over 10 psi. It’s a 88mm. In this video I was on 20 psi. When I run bikes I usually turn it up around 23-24 psi.

What other mods (engine, trans etc..)? My twin 62's made close to 800 on 15psi, Id bet that 88mm makes close to 900-1000.

I just added head studs Bc I lifted a head on 23 psi after a couple months on the stock head bolts. It’s got a turbo cam/springs and ls9 gaskets. Trans is 100% stock and I put a PI converter in it with a big cooler. The closest race I’ve had so far was a built 370 iirc engine c6 with twin 62s on 23 psi and I was out on him about a car from 60-165.

Thats pretty impressive, im assuming ls3/6l80e? I have basically the same setup engine wise, im skeptical of pushing it past 16-17psi though lol
What fuel system?

Correct ls3/80e. Ecs stage 1 80lbers and only one meth nozzle. I like to experiment and push things a little harder than most lol. I’ve got a built engine ready once I finally kill off the sbe setup. The stock trans had 94k on it when I started throwing power at it. I had a random tcm failure the last time out and just put a new tcm in and all seems good again.

Awesome build. Any pics of how you routed the hot side piping? I want to build a turbo c6 in the worst way but cant decide if I want to tear into my mint 15k mile z06 or just buy a cheap beat up base model and start cutting it up.

I ran into this...sold my nice grandsport and picked up a beat up Z06 with a broken motor that had some parts that I could sell towards the build. It was too hard to justify cutting up a nice car. I picked z over base because i paid a slight premium but got the body I like it was lighter and the car i bought had a built trans/diff to support the turbo. (in a stock z the rear diff is also stronger then base so thats a good look also).

I'll have some build pics up this evening. I've had a lot of questions about the car on facespace bc 1320 posted some runs of it.

This kit I built requires zero cutting to run it. However I did notch the front middle support to gain clearance to be able to run the bigger radiator. My coolant temps get to 185 max ac on and when I dont turn it on stay around 160. Ive got a 4 inch core IC, tru cool 40k and then the ac condenser all up front as well.
