From 350 to 327
I am going to replace my broken 350 to a 327. What do i need to know befor i swap. Does the 327 fit in the same mounts as the 350? Which flywheel do I need for my muncie m21. Ect... Every tip is much appreciated regardless of what it is thanks

Yes. Might be a smaller harmonic balancer. Does the 327 have a bolt holding the balancer on the front of the crankshaft? Early small blocks were just press on. Not sure the year or crank stroke when they changed. Your existing pulleys will probably fit the 327 balancer. Your flywheel will work, unless existing 350 is 86 or newer. Make sure the starter bolts to block before you install the engine. What year 327? Some early 327 may not have had all 3 starter bolt holes drilled and tapped. Some aftermarket starters will work with small flywheel mount holes and big flywheel. And congrats on finding an engine.

Yes! Engine code may even be correct for a 68 Vette. It was the 64-65 that had the small journal cranks with pressed on balancers, but check ALL DETAILS! What year 350 is in the car now? I assume it has a mechanical fuel pump?

Im going to ask.......why?
What does a 327 have to offer that a 350 cant? Other than historical accuracy in a period correct car, whats the benefit?

rhe 350 is busted and i want a good engine to my car that doesnt break the bank. (It is not alot of options in Norway )

If you were looking for a 327 in Norway, you would have found nothing but 350's... You won't miss the 23 cubic inches. And hang on to that 350. Engine parts are cheaper to ship and easier to find than whole engines. Do you know what happened to the 350?

If its a large main journal 327, then its the same block as the 350. I would swap everything over. All the parts from a small journal would fit as well except for the crankshaft and connecting rods.

67 is large journal late 327. Let's double check. Flat pad in front of the right head next to too alternator mount bolt. Post a pic. Same with your current 350. Now, that is a bit much carb for a 327. A single 4 bbl makes more sense, but if it runs well and fits under the hood? Well it is a damn pretty engine. Any idea the head, cam and piston specs?

A few things you’ll need to keep in mind:
I don’t thank that carb/air cleaner setup will fit under a stock hood.
A dual quad carb looks great but may not work well with a 327.
If it really was a 427, try to find out the specifications for those cylinder heads. If the crank and rods were changed but the heads weren’t, the compression ratio would make this motor a dog.
It looks like there is a block off plate for the fuel pump. Make sure there is a pushrod under it. If there really is a roller cam, you can’t just swap in the one from your 350.

I think he means it was originally a big block car. He just took a 69 350 out of it that is currently no good. Okay, he means it should have a big block hood on it in which case that front carburetor might fit, then again it might not.
