C5 fixed roof coupe
I have a 2000 coupe (hatchback) but I have always had a soft spot for the 1999-00 frc. I know they are not as fast (stock) as the z06 but I like the body style, and they probably don't have some of the mechanical problems that the z06's have. I am sure with a few bolt-ons you could get an extra 25 hp. I would love to see some pictures of your cars and any commits regarding how well you like them. Thanks

Meh, the few differences are easily made up with aftermarket parts which can actually bring quite a bit more....the more important issue is the early-model bugs which were sorted out in the later cars.

I bought mine a few months ago - I was specifically looking for an FRC. I prefer the look of it over the coupe. Like some others, the mod bug has bitten me and I've put some money it. I have the typical bolt ons like Kooks Headers, X-Pipe, CAI (vararam), Hurst short throw, 4 new Nittos and replaced all TMPS at the same time. It's in the shop right now, getting a Texas Speed 228r 114LSA cam and a gear swap from 3.42 to 4.10. I should have it back by next Friday - fingers crossed. I'm waiting to see what RWHP and torque numbers I get. Next spring, I plan to got with Heads and a 92mm FAST intake. I think that will be about it for power. I will then want to move to suspension and swap out the sway bars and end links. After that, that will about do it for me. I have no plans for forced induction.

Melting Slicks
I’ve owned mine, a 99, for 8 years. I looked specifically for a 99-2000 model since I felt like,at the time, that the Z06 was out of my price range. My 99 has been relatively trouble free in my 30k miles of ownership. Anyone who likes the FRC body style and wants the benefits the Z06 offers over a standard C5 would be well served to get a Z06 in the first place from a cost standpoint. If you like to tinker and upgrade and power up you might be just as well served with a FRC car.

2020 C5 of the Year Winner- Unmodified
I was looking to upgrade my 86 C4, I had for 32 years. Out of the blue a torch red 2000 FRC showed up at a local dealer at the right time. I really didn't like the FRC look at first, but now I actually like it better. I love the trunk idea. My C4 coupe was always a problem to carry or store stuff in the back. The FRC trunk is really cool. I guess if horse power is your goal, maybe go for a Z06. But you will spend more money for the same quality level between an FRC and a Z06. The FRCs all came with the Z51 suspension , 6 speed manual and black interiors.... all things I wanted. I've gone through the car completely and I'm very happy. Only thing left I want to do is a cat back exhaust and new wheels. By the way, mine was very stock and unmolested.
