Default 72 4-speed "Sending" wire

Hi all,
While changing the oil in my 72 (350 base w 4-speed) I noticed a single wire sending unit at the front of the transmission. The black wire coming from it is broken, not a clean cut.
I did a search here and found reference and photos regarding a CEC system or sender? I'm thinking I should repair the wire, just want to make sure I know what it is first.
Any info is appreciated,

It is for the Transmission controlled spark for the emissions system it goes to the drivers side of the transmission side cover switch

Pretty much useless. I would not spend anytime fixing it.

Thanks guys! It's obviously not a functional system on my car. Probably wouldn't notice anything if it were repaired.
